Job Title: Second Assistant Golf Course Superintendent (East Course)
Job Pay Rate: $58,000 /annual salary

The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent assists the Golf Course Manager with the daily supervision of maintenance activities to condition the golf course to the highest level of playability.

What you will be doing:
• Hiring, training, and supervision of greenkeeping staff
• Daily inspection of the golf course including greens, tees, approaches, fairways, roughs and natural areas
• Ensure effective communications with all managers in the golf course maintenance department greenkeepers, and golf operations personnel
• Obtain CO State Pesticide Applicators License within one year of hire for applying pesticides to the golf course including herbicides for weed control, insecticides and fungicides when needed.
• Calibrate and apply fertilizer, surfactants and growth regulators to golf course turfgrass areas according to the agronomic plan
• Assist with the operation of snow removal equipment for the Wilderness Properties, Hotel, and golf course areas.
• Perform daily golf course maintenance department tasks including record keeping, maintaining a clean and organized shop and equipment
• Perform basic horticulture responsibilities including tree and shrub trimming
• Operate and train greenkeepers in the safe operation of equipment in the golf course maintenance fleet including utility vehicles, mowers, blowers, edgers, tractors, trimmers, cultural practices equipment including aerifiers, topdressers, and vertical mowing, skid loaders
• Operate and repair irrigation system, hand watering for precise irrigation applications and promote firm playing conditions, drainage maintenance and installation
• Participation and leadership in special projects including sod installation, concrete repairs, bunker renovation, irrigation improvements.
• Communicate daily pre-shift meeting to golf course maintenance department staff covering hotel information, scheduling and assigned tasks
• Follow Hotel safety guidelines and OSHA standards
• Must be flexible to working weekends and holidays Willingness to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

• Strong interpersonal communication skills

What we are looking for:
• Two- or four-year degree preferred in Turfgrass Management, Horticulture or related field, and/or prior related experience in golf course maintenance. One year minimum supervisory experience. experience with golf course irrigation systems.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License required
• Any employee driving a Broadmoor vehicle must be 18 years or older
• Colorado State Pesticide License needs to be attained within one year of employment
• Ability to directly supervises golf maintenance department staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places and toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Occasional heavy lifting (up to 100 lbs. with assistance) with a work environment that may be indoors and outdoors at times.
