About the Role
PURPOSE, SCOPE, AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent, the Golf Course Attendant is responsible for delivering excellent customer service and supporting the daily operations of the pro shop and clubhouse. This position manages tee time scheduling, retail sales, cart operations, light course monitoring, inventory support, and facility upkeep to ensure a positive and professional experience for all guests.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Customer Service & Guest Relations
· Greet and assist all customers in a friendly, professional, and welcoming manner.
· Provide basic information regarding course policies, rates, promotions, leagues, and tournaments.
· Check in golfers and obtain necessary information for greens fees and cart rentals.
· Monitor the golf course to ensure all golfers have properly checked in at the pro shop prior to play.
· Address situations professionally when golfers have not checked in and direct them to the pro shop.
· Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries in a timely and courteous manner.
· Promote a positive guest experience and address concerns appropriately.
· Enforce course rules and policies professionally.
Tee Time & Reservation Management
· Schedule, modify, and manage tee times efficiently using the reservation system.
· Coordinate with course staff to ensure smooth daily play and pace of play management.
Sales & Cash Handling
· Process sales transactions for green fees, cart rentals, merchandise, snacks, and beverages using a cash register or point-of-sale system.
· Operate POS system accurately and responsibly.
· Handle cash, credit cards, and other forms of payment.
· Balance cash drawer and reconcile daily sales as required.
Retail & Inventory Support
· Monitor and restock merchandise, snacks, and beverages as needed.
· Maintain attractive and organized retail displays.
· Assist in tracking inventory and report shortages or discrepancies to the Golf Course Superintendent.
· Promote merchandise, memberships, lessons, and special events.
Golf Cart Operations
· Set up, rotate, clean, store, and charge or fuel golf carts daily.
· Prepare carts for daily use and ensure they are clean and properly staged.
· Clean carts after use and maintain overall cart fleet appearance.
· Monitor cart usage and report mechanical or safety concerns.
Course Monitoring & Ranger Duties
· Start playing groups from the first tee, ensuring groups depart in the correct order at their scheduled tee time.
· Monitor pace of play and take proactive steps to maintain proper flow on the course.
· Ensure all golfers have properly checked in prior to play.
· Understand and enforce pace of play, outside beverage, and course conduct policies, holding players accountable while maintaining professionalism.
· Patrol the course to identify and address slow play, safety concerns, or policy violations.
· Sound warning alarm for inclement weather to alert golfers to seek shelter.
· Remove trash from the golf course and driving range.
· Report course issues, incidents, or unsafe conditions immediately.
Facility Maintenance & Cleanliness
· Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pro shop and clubhouse areas.
· Perform light cleaning duties including sanitizing surfaces, sweeping floors, and emptying trash.
· Ensure restrooms and common areas remain presentable throughout the shift.
· Report maintenance or safety concerns to supervisor promptly.
Additional Duties
· Assist with tournament and league operations as needed.
· Support clubhouse operations and perform other duties as assigned.
· Complete other tasks as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
· Must be 16 years old or older.
· Must be able to work rotating shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
· Previous customer service or retail experience preferred.
· Basic knowledge of golf terminology and etiquette preferred.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to operate POS systems and basic computer software.
· Ability to handle cash accurately and responsibly.
· Dependable, punctual, and professional in appearance and conduct.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Combination of indoor and outdoor work.
· Requires availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
· Frequent standing, walking, bending, and light lifting (up to 25 pounds).
· Ability to stand for extended periods.
· Ability to lift and carry merchandise and golf equipment.
· Ability to clean and maneuver golf carts safely.
· Manual dexterity for register and computer operation.
