ABOUT THE QUARRY AT LA QUINTA
The Quarry at La Quinta is a private golf club that offers a world-class golf experience to fewer than 300 members. Since its inception, the Club has remained deeply committed to the founding principles that continue to distinguish it within the industry today.
The Quarry provides its members with unimpeded access to the golf experience – no tee times, limited events, and a deliberately small membership – all of which contribute to a uniquely personal and unhurried atmosphere that delivers a very high-quality golf experience for members and their guests.
At the heart of the Club is its 20,000-square-foot clubhouse, thoughtfully designed around an indoor-outdoor concept that captures stunning panoramic views of the golf course and the Santa Rosa Mountains. The setting creates a relaxed yet refined dining environment, where the culinary program and pre- and post-round camaraderie play a central role in the overall member experience.
Golf Digest has recognized the Club’s Championship Course as one of “America’s 100 Greatest Courses” every year since its debut in 1994. The Quarry is equally known for its exceptional course conditioning, currently recognized in the top 10 in the country for golf course conditioning.
Complementing the Championship Course, the Club’s 10-hole Short Course is widely regarded as one of the top par-3 courses in the world. With flexible playability ranging from 50 to 380 yards, it offers a dynamic and challenging extension of the Quarry golf experience, mirroring the main course’s strategy, beauty, and character.

GENERAL MANAGER/CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER – POSITION OVERVIEW
The General Manager/Chief Operating Officer (GM/COO) is responsible for helping to preserve and maintain The Quarry at La Quinta’s core values and vision. This executive has operational management authority over the Club’s daily operations and is responsible for establishing short- and long-term organizational goals, objectives, plans, and policies, subject to the approval of the Club’s Board of Directors (Board). The GM/COO represents and serves the members of The Quarry at La Quinta and acts as the “face” of the Club.
The GM/COO is responsible for the Club’s financial and operational stability. A successful new GM/COO at The Quarry at La Quinta must possess especially strong skills in leading and mentoring a staff of well-regarded employees and holding them accountable for their performance.
The GM/COO is responsible for ensuring the organization complies with all state and federal regulations governing the operation of private clubs. This individual is expected to operate the Club as a first-class organization for all stakeholders, including the current membership, guests, and employees. In addition, the GM/COO serves as the Board’s liaison to the Club’s staff, enabling the Board to focus on longer-term strategic issues rather than short-term operational issues, which are the staff’s responsibility.
The GM/COO will work closely with the Club President to develop the Board agenda and ensure the Board receives the reports and financial and operational data it needs to monitor Club operations, oversee the performance of the GM/COO, plan for future Club needs, and otherwise discharge its responsibilities. The GM/COO will provide administrative and financial direction, review adherence to operational goals, and remain available to provide managerial counsel on all matters.
The GM/COO will work closely with the Board, as a thought partner, and with the various department heads to ensure that the primary goal — a high level of member satisfaction across the Club’s many member constituencies — is achieved.
The GM/COO, acting in partnership with the Club’s management team, is responsible for all staffing decisions. This individual will be expected to build and support strong department heads, take pride in developing these leaders as a team, and mentor their individual careers. The GM/COO will be expected to develop a succession plan for all departments, continuously train, motivate, and evaluate the management team, and regularly evaluate the training standards established by each department manager.
A team-oriented mindset, sincere and effective mentoring, and an empathetic leadership style are critical.
The GM/COO will help the Board reach consensus on important matters by providing pertinent information and will work with the Board to identify more efficient operating procedures and new Club activities. This individual will also fulfill all responsibilities and duties prescribed in the Club’s Bylaws and perform other duties as directed by the Board from time to time.
In particular, the GM/COO will be pivotal in maintaining and, where and when appropriate, enhancing the spirit and culture of the Club, its membership, and its employees.
This individual will be visible, warm, welcoming and personally involved in Club operations, from setting the tone and overseeing employee training to being present at events, both big and small. The GM/COO must understand and reinforce the intangibles that make The Quarry at La Quinta a unique environment in the world of private, member-owned golf clubs.
INITIAL PRIORITIES OF THE NEW GENERAL MANAGER/CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

Partner with the Board in clarifying, aligning, and advancing a long-term vision for The Quarry while ensuring the strategic priorities, resources, and operational disciplines are in place to bring that vision to life.
Preserve and enhance The Quarry’s defining golf experience, including exceptional course conditioning, pace of play, and the Club’s highly valued open first-tee philosophy.
Elevate consistency, professionalism and service standards across golf operations, outside services, and food and beverage while maintaining The Quarry’s golf-centric identity.
