About the Role
Our client, a prestigious golf club, is seeking an experienced Senior Golf Course Superintendent to oversee the meticulous maintenance and presentation of their championship course. This is a hands-on, on-site role located in Huntsville, Alabama, US . The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of turfgrass management, irrigation systems, pest and disease control, and sustainable maintenance practices. You will lead a team of groundskeepers, manage budgets, and ensure the course is maintained to the highest standards for member and guest enjoyment.
Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement comprehensive agronomic plans for all turf areas. Supervise, train, and manage the daily activities of the grounds maintenance staff. Oversee the operation and maintenance of irrigation systems, ensuring efficient water usage. Manage the integrated pest management (IPM) program, including disease, insect, and weed control. Monitor course conditions daily and make necessary adjustments to maintenance practices. Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, including fertilization, pesticide application, and irrigation. Manage the departmental budget, including labor, materials, and equipment costs. Operate and maintain golf course maintenance equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency. Collaborate with the golf professional and club management to ensure optimal course conditions for tournaments and events. Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and club policies. Stay current with the latest advancements in turfgrass science and golf course management.
Qualifications: Degree or certification in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Assistant Superintendent or Golf Course Superintendent. Deep knowledge of cool-season and warm-season turfgrass species. Proficiency in irrigation system management and repair. Strong understanding of pest, disease, and weed identification and control methods. Experience with budget management and staff supervision. Valid driver's license and ability to obtain pesticide applicator's license. GCSAA Class A certification is highly preferred. Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physical tasks. This role requires your consistent presence at the golf course in Huntsville, Alabama, US .
