Position Description:The Head Golf Professional at Huntington Country Club will be the leading ambassador for the entire Golf Operations. He/she is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the golf operation including golf services, tournament programming, instruction, merchandising and staff leadership. As a golf shop concessionaire, the Head Professional will run the shop as an independent business while closely collaborating with club leadership to ensure alignment with HCC’s standards.Reporting to the General Manager, the Head Golf Professional will be focused on ensuring that all members and guests have an exceptional golf experience. Key Responsibilities:Manageall golf and golf-related activities and businesses including:
■ Provideexceptionalmemberandguestserviceacrossallfacetsofthegolf operation.
■ Manageall golf facilities, including theGolf Shop and practice facilities
■ Enforcing Club rules and regulations
■ OverseeingtheClub’sgolf-relatedtechnology systems
■ Deliverandoverseeprivateinstruction,groupclinicsandplayerdevelopment programs for all ages and levels of ability
■ Creating,marketingandleadinganappealingtournamentandgolfevents schedule in conjunction with management and the Golf Committee
■ Leadastrongmerchandisingprogramthroughthegolfshopincludinginventory, visual presentation, marketing and sales
■ Providewrittencommunicationthroughregularnoticestothemembershipabout tournaments, programs, ongoing events, opportunities
■ WorkcloselywiththeGreensSuperintendentoncourseconditions,play coordination and special event set up
■ Reportingactivities ofthe department tomanagement andthe Golf Committee
■ InsurecompliancewithclubpoliciesandPGAstandardsandserveasa representative of the MET PGA and PGA of America
Qualificationsand ExperienceIncluding,but not limited to, the following:
■ PGAof AmericaClass “A” Membership
■ Minimum of five years experience at private facility as either a Head Golf ProfessionalorLeadAssistantGolfProfessionalincludingleadershipingolf operations and merchandising
■ Ability to create an outstanding golf experience for all facility users
■ Provensuccessingolfshopmanagement,tournamentandprogram administration, special events and instruction.
■ Proficiencywithgolfindustrytechnologies(Jonas,GolfGenius,POSsystems, GHIN, etc)
■ Historyof recruiting and mentoringa premier golf staff
■ Entrepreneurialmindsetwithaprofessionalapproachtooperatingaretail business.
■ Abilitytoengagewithawidevarietyofmembersandguests;abilitytoprovide suggestions and/or constructive criticism when appropriate
■ Proven ability to deliver high-level instruction and strong playing ability
■ Willingnesstocontinuouslyimproveallprograms;provenrecordofprogram growth
■ Strongleadershipandorganizationalskills;excellentverbalandwritten communication skills; and strong interpersonal skills
■ Willingnessto engage inthe METPGASection and beyond
■ Strong integrity and high level of professionalism
■ Abilitytohire,trainandevaluatetheperformanceofstaffinthegolfshopaswell as in the starters area
■ Well-versedintheUSGARulesof Golf
