About the Role
OVERVIEW: Boca West Country Club is seeking a dedicated and experienced GCM Assistant Superintendent to support the daily operations and long-term planning of one of our premier golf courses. The ideal candidate will assist in overseeing maintenance activities, ensuring the course meets the highest standards of playability, aesthetics, and environmental stewardship.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Superintendent in managing daily course maintenance operations, including mowing, irrigation, fertilization, aeration, pest control, and turf management.
- Supervise and coordinate the work of maintenance staff, ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality standards are met.
- Monitor and adjust irrigation systems to maintain optimal turf health and water conservation.
- Implement and follow best practices for turf management, including disease and pest prevention.
- Assist in planning and executing seasonal maintenance programs and projects.
- Maintain accurate records of chemical applications, maintenance schedules, and operational costs.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and club policies.
- Collaborate with course management and staff to improve course conditions and guest experience.
- Participate in staff training and development to promote a knowledgeable and motivated team.
- Assist with special projects and initiatives as directed by the Superintendent.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel reach with hands and arms, talk, hear, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to extreme heat (non-weather).
- Proven experience in golf course maintenance or groundskeeping, with a minimum of 2-3 years in a supervisory or assistant role
- Degree or certificate in related field of study
- Knowledge of horticulture, turfgrass science, irrigation systems, and pest management.
- Valid pesticide license or ability to obtain one upon hire (state-specific requirements).
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
