Role Description The Golf Course Superintendent is a full-time, on-site role at Paris Landing Resort Stare Park in Paris, TN, responsible for overseeing all aspects of golf course maintenance and agronomy. This role plans and directs daily turf care activities, including mowing, fertilization, aeration, irrigation scheduling, and pest management to ensure optimal playing conditions. The superintendent manages landscape maintenance across the course, supervises and trains maintenance staff, coordinates equipment use and servicing, and monitors course conditions for safety and playability. The role includes budgeting for maintenance operations, maintaining records related to chemicals and water usage, and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations. The superintendent works closely with park and course leadership to support positive golfer experiences and protect natural resources.
Qualifications
Strong turf management skills, including knowledge of grass species, agronomy practices, fertilization, and soil health.Experience in golf course management, including daily course setup, staff supervision, and coordination of maintenance operations.Proficiency with irrigation systems, including programming, troubleshooting, repair, and water conservation practices.Landscape maintenance experience, including tree, shrub, and ornamental plant care, as well as general grounds upkeep.Knowledge of pesticide use, including safe handling, application, recordkeeping, and compliance with all regulatory requirements.Relevant education such as an associate or bachelor’s degree in turfgrass management, agronomy, horticulture, or related field, or equivalent experience is preferred.Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks as needed.Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to train and direct a diverse maintenance team.Familiarity with golf course maintenance equipment operation and basic preventive maintenance.Valid driver’s license and ability to meet any applicable state certification or licensing requirements for chemical application.
