Position Purpose: The primary responsibility of a Pool Operator is to maintain safe and sanitary water conditions by properly operating the pool’s filtration, circulation, and chemical treatment systems. Pool Operators supervise, manage, and assist Lifeguards with daily operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Safety & Supervision
Make sure swimmers follow safety rules.
Respond to emergencies and enforce safety procedures.
Ensure lifesaving equipment is available and functional.
2. Water Quality & Sanitation
Monitor and maintain proper chemical levels (chlorine, pH, etc.).
Ensure water filtration systems work correctly.
Keep the pool and surrounding areas clean and sanitary.
Comply with local health department regulations.
3. Staff Management
Delegate tasks and assist lifeguards with daily duties.
Assign lifeguard rotations and break schedules.
Monitor staff performance.
Conduct safety drills and training sessions.
4. Facility Maintenance
Inspect the pool, pumps, filters, and deck areas.
Coordinate repairs when equipment breaks.
Ensure deck furniture, equipment, supplies, and amenities are maintained.
5. Customer Service
Handle member questions, complaints, and incidents.
Enforce Woodmont’s and pool policies professionally.
Create a welcoming environment for members and guests.
Assist with Special Events/Holidays.
6. Administration & Compliance
Maintain records (chemical logs, incident reports, maintenance logs).
Ensure compliance with local health and safety codes.
Manage budgets, supplies, and pool chemicals.
Qualifications
Education and Work Experience Qualifications
Experience teaching, managing, and training American Red Cross Lifeguards.
Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification (Preferred) or Water Safety Instructor.
Lifeguard certification.
Pool and Hot Tub Alliance Certified Pool Operator certification preferred. Must be able to obtain a Montgomery County Maryland Certified Swimming Pool Operator license before start of work.
