Dining Room Manager
The Hackensack Golf Club, situated on a picturesque 160-acre property, is seeking a seasoned hospitality professional to oversee dining room operations in its main clubhouse. This position is well suited for an individual who takes pride in traditional service standards and is committed to delivering a consistently high level of member experience in an upscale private club environment.
Experience in a private club, luxury hotel, or comparable high-end dining operation is strongly preferred.
Reports To: General Manager / COO
Supervises: All Front-of-House Service Staff
Position Overview
The Dining Room Manager is responsible for the overall management and execution of dining room service in the main clubhouse. This role ensures exceptional standards of hospitality, service, cleanliness, and staff professionalism while maintaining operational efficiency and fiscal discipline.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee all aspects of dining room service operations in the main clubhouse
• Maintain the highest standards of service, hospitality, appearance, and cleanliness
• Ensure timely, accurate, and well-coordinated food service
• Hire, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate front-of-house dining staff
• Conduct daily pre-meal meetings to communicate reservations, menu changes, and special member requests
• Lead and support staff in multiple service formats, including American and buffet service
• Greet and seat members and guests, fostering a welcoming and professional atmosphere
• Perform daily POS closeouts and ensure staff proficiency with all POS functions
• Operate within established budgets and cost controls
• Develop and implement service initiatives to enhance overall member satisfaction
• Recommend improvements to dining room service procedures and physical layout
• Assist with service during peak periods or special events as needed
• Serve as Opening Manager, Closing Manager, or Manager on Duty as scheduled
• Attend and actively participate in staff and departmental meetings
• Collaborate with the Executive Chef on weekly menu updates and printing
• Assist with the development of wine lists and beverage promotions
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Food & Beverage Director
Qualifications
• Minimum of five years of hospitality experience preferred
• Prior experience in a private club, premium hotel or upscale dining environment strongly preferred
• Demonstrated leadership and staff development skills
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and service standards
• Professional demeanor with a member-first service philosophy
