About the Role
• *Assistant Food & Beverage Manager**

Founded in 1924, the Orinda Country Club is a private club rich in tradition that offers its members and their families premier golf and other recreational facilities with the commitment to provide service that exceeds expectations. Nestled in the Northern California hills of Orinda, you will find a beautiful full-service, family oriented private club located 20 miles east of San Francisco in the sunny East Bay. The Club includes a William Watson designed golf course, 8 tennis courts (5 lighted), a Fitness Center, a Fitness Studio, state-of-the-art pool facility and an upscale dining experience.
We currently have an opening for a full-time Assistant Food & Beverage Manager.
Salary Range DOE: $80,000 - $95,000 annually
• *Position Summary**
The Assistant Food & Beverage Manager (AFBM) supports the daily operation of the Club’s food and beverage outlets, ensuring exceptional service to members and guests while maintaining efficient operations and compliance with Club policies. This role partners closely with the Head of Food & Beverage to oversee staff performance, coordinate service operations, and maintain the high standards expected at Orinda Country Club.
The AFBM is a visible leader who helps cultivate a positive team culture, supports staff development, and ensures consistent, member-focused service experience.
• *Reporting Relationship**
Reports directly to the **Head of Food & Beverage (HoFB)** and works closely with culinary leadership, department managers, and the Club’s leadership team.
• *Key Responsibilities**
• *Operations & Service**
• Assist in overseeing daily food and beverage operations across all Club dining venues, events, and special functions.
• Ensure service standards are consistently delivered to members and guests.
• Monitor dining room and service flow to maintain efficiency and a positive member experience.
• Support the coordination and execution of Club events, banquets, and special functions.
• Address member concerns promptly and professionally.
• Manage snack bar locations at the pool and the 11th tee on the golf course.
• Maintain records of vendor contracts and pricing agreements for F & B products.
• Review and approve invoices to ensure accuracy of billing compared to contracts.
• Ensure POS items, pricing and modifiers are maintained accurately in the system.
• Assist with internal controls, including handling cash and daily closing processes.
• *Staff Leadership & Development**
• Supervise, train, and coach front-of-house food and beverage staff.
• Assist with staff scheduling to ensure appropriate coverage for daily operations and events.
• Support onboarding and training of new employees.
• Reinforce Club policies, service standards, and professional conduct expectations.
• Assist in managing employee performance through coaching and feedback.
• *Financial & Administrative Support**
• Assist in monitoring labor costs and operational efficiency.
• Review and approve staff timecards in partnership with department leadership.
• Support inventory oversight and ordering of food and beverage supplies as needed.
• Ensure accurate POS usage and proper handling of member charges.
• Monitor daily sales reports and POS data to ensure accuracy and identify unusual variances.
• Track department performance against budget, providing explanations for unusual variances.
• Support the HoFB and Controller to gather data for monthly financial reviews and committee reports.
• *Compliance & Safety**
• Ensure compliance with California labor laws related to meal and rest breaks.
• Support accurate timekeeping and payroll practices.
• Maintain adherence to alcohol service regulations and responsible beverage service practices.
• Reinforce workplace safety standards and Club policies.
• *Member Experience**
• Maintain a strong presence on the floor to engage with members and guests.
• Build positive relationships with members and ensure a welcoming dining environment.
• Assist in implementing service initiatives that enhance the overall Club experience.
• *Qualifications**
• Minimum **3–5 years of food and beverage supervisory or management experience**, preferably in a private club, hospitality, or high-end dining environment.
• Strong leadership and team development skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Knowledge of food and beverage service standards and operational procedures.
• Familiarity with POS systems and scheduling software.
• Understanding of California wage and hour laws related to hospitality operations preferred.
