About the Role
Position Overview
The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent and plays a key role in the daily management and maintenance of the golf course and club grounds. Under the Superintendent’s direction, the Assistant Superintendent helps oversee all aspects of course maintenance, including greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, cart paths, irrigation systems, landscaping, buildings, and course infrastructure.
This position is expected to be a hands-on leader who actively participates in daily operations while supervising and developing staff. The Assistant Superintendent may assume the responsibilities of the Golf Course Superintendent during periods of absence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist the Superintendent in planning daily, weekly, and seasonal maintenance activities while allocating labor and resources efficiently to meet departmental goals and club standards.
Train, supervise, and develop hourly staff in the safe and proper operation of equipment and maintenance procedures.
Assign daily tasks and follow up to ensure work is completed efficiently, safely, and to established standards.
Work closely with the Superintendent to monitor labor utilization, evaluate workflows, and update departmental Standard Operating Procedures as needed.
Conduct daily inspections of all playing surfaces and course assets, including greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, cart paths, irrigation components, drainage systems, hazard markers, buildings, trees, shrubs, landscape beds, and other course infrastructure.
Identify areas for improvement throughout the property and develop action plans to enhance course conditions and operational efficiency.
Apply fertilizers and pesticides in accordance with agronomic programs and maintain accurate application records in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
Ensure all application equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and operating safely.
Assist with irrigation management, water usage monitoring, and troubleshooting of irrigation system issues.
Maintain open and effective communication with the Superintendent, Equipment Manager, and maintenance staff to ensure all team members are working toward common goals.
Participate in tournament preparation, special projects, and other duties as assigned.
Facility Information Tupelo Country Club is a premier private club featuring an 18-hole championship golf course, extensive practice facilities, and approximately 200 acres of maintained turf.

Current pesticide applicator license or the ability to obtain certification within a reasonable timeframe.
