Position: GOLF COURSE SUPERINTENDENT OverviewThis position is located in the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Department, Naval Station Great Lakes, Great Lakes, IL. The purpose of this position is to provide the technical expertise to design and implement a program of maintenance for the golf course, driving range, practice putting green, including the greens, tees, fairways, roughs, the irrigation system, related facilities and equipment. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining the golf course within budgetary limitations.QualificationsBroad background in golf course maintenance and operations, with experience and knowledge of established agronomic practices, attained through academic achievements or practical experience.Knowledge of various types of pests and pesticides required for treatment; certification in herbicide application.Experience in determining methods of operation and analyzing complex problems and interpreting procedures.Working knowledge of and professional expertise in golf course equipment; understanding of the rules of golf and the ability to view the course from the patron’s perspective.Ability to lead and supervise employees.Valid state driver’s license; current CPR/First Aid certification; and state and federal pesticide mixing licenses are required.
