About The Gate Golf Club
Established in 2023 and located in Naples, Florida, The Gate Golf Club ("The Gate") is a non-profit organization driven by a shared love for golf and a commitment to creating a lasting impact on the community. Scheduled to open in late 2026, The Gate consists of a 175-seat freestanding full-service restaurant, pavilion bar, concessions snack bar, 30-bay state-of-the-art practice range with Trackman technology, expansive putting green, and a Jacobsen-Hardy designed 9-hole regulation length golf course. Recognizing the limited availability of public courses in Southwest Florida, The Gate Golf Club is dedicated to making the sport more accessible for families and players of all skill levels.
Position Summary
The Director of Golf is the senior leader of Golf Operations and reports directly to the General Manager. This role is responsible for the strategic leadership and day-to-day operation of all golf services, golf retail, practice facilities, tournaments, instruction, staffing, financial performance, and guest experience while supporting The Gate's mission of making golf accessible to all.
Requirements
Pre-Opening Leadership Responsibilities
Lead all golf operations planning and opening activitiesDevelop SOPs, operating policies, budgets, staffing plans, and merchandising strategySelect and implement POS, tee-sheet, inventory, and golf management systemsHire, train, and onboard the Golf Operations teamCoordinate vendors, licensing, and operational readinessOperational Leadership
Direct golf shop, outside services, cart operations, practice facilities, putting course, and instructional programmingDeliver exceptional guest experiences and maintain high operational standardsPlan and execute tournaments, leagues, outings, junior golf, clinics, and community eventsPartner with the Golf Course Superintendent and Food & Beverage leadership to ensure a seamless guest experienceRecruit, coach, mentor, evaluate, and retain a high-performing teamFinancial & Business Leadership
Develop and administer operating and capital budgetsMonitor KPIs, labor, payroll, retail performance, pace of play, and revenue.Drive rounds, instruction, retail, and Trackman utilization through innovative programmingQualifications
7-10 years of progressive golf operations leadershipPGA member in good standingPublic, municipal, daily-fee, or community golf leadership strongly preferredExperience opening a new golf facility preferredStrong financial, technology, leadership, and communication skillsSuccess Measures
Success will be measured by guest satisfaction, financial performance, staff development and retention, retail profitability, pace of play, safety, and community engagement.
