About the Job
Lead Server / Captain
Private Golf Club | Westchester County, NY
Overview
We are seeking experienced, polished Lead Servers / Captains to support daily dining operations and private events at our private, member-owned golf club.
This role is designed for senior service professionals who lead by example on the floor, support management during service, and help maintain consistent service standards across the front-of-house team. Captains are trusted leaders during both à la carte dining and high-profile member events.
This is a season-long position (April 1 through November 15th) and is not summer-only employment
.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as a floor leader during assigned shifts and events
• Act as the primary point of contact for servers within assigned sections
• Support management with:
• Pre-shift organization
• Service pacing and flow
• Guest recovery and issue resolution
• Lead service during:
• Private member events
• Golf tournaments
• High-volume dining periods
• Ensure service standards, table maintenance, and presentation are upheld
• Assist with training and mentoring newer servers
• Support wine service standards, including:
• Bottle presentation and service
• Basic pairing guidance
• Staff support on beverage questions
• Communicate effectively with kitchen, bar, and management teams
• Model professionalism, composure, and accountability at all times
Candidate Qualifications
• 5+ years of serving experience in fine dining, private clubs, or upscale restaurants
• Prior experience acting as a lead server, captain, or senior server
• Strong food and beverage knowledge;
wine service experience required
• Comfortable managing service flow and staff communication
• Polished, calm, and professional demeanor
Ability to handle high-pressure service environments with confidence
• Bilingual candidates (Spanish/English) strongly preferred
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and events throughout the season
• Reliable personal transportation a must
