About the Role
Wequassett Resort and Golf Club, a Forbes Double Five-Star property is seeking a Director of Finance to join our team. Reporting directly to the Area Managing Director, this role serves as a key operational and strategic partner within the department, supporting the full scope of financial management for the resort.
The Director of Finance will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, assist in the preparation of financial statements and forecasts, and help maintain the strong control environment essential to a property of our caliber. This individual must be detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, seasonal resort environment. The ideal candidate will bring hotel experience, specifically in a luxury resort setting.
Job Summary:
Accounting & Financial Reporting
Assist in the execution of the month-end close process, including preparation of financial statements, journal entries, and accrualsReconcile balance sheet accounts in accordance with GAAP and established resort standardsEnsure accuracy of the P&L, verifying that costs are properly matched to revenue and recorded in the correct accountsManage accounts payable functions within the resort's purchase order systemForecasting, Budgeting & Analysis
Support the Director of Finance in developing the annual operating budget and quarterly forecastsPrepare financial analysis to assist leadership in variance explanation and achievement of financial goalsAnalyze financial data and report on property performance trends to support operational decision-makingIdentify opportunities to improve profit through cost control, efficiency, and process improvementControls & Compliance
Assist in developing and implementing financial controls and systems to manage business risk and safeguard resort assetsEnsure compliance with government regulations, contractual agreements, and brand standardsSupport internal and external audit processes, maintaining organized documentation and timely responses to inquiriesMaintain working knowledge of relevant contract elements including management agreements, fee structures, and reporting obligationsLeadership & Cross-Departmental Collaboration
Serve as a resource and point of contact for the Finance team in the Director of Finance's absencePartner with department managers across the resort to provide financial guidance and support operational goalsCommunicate financial results, variances, and projections clearly and professionally to property leadershipPromote a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement within the Finance departmentMaintain confidentiality of all financial data and sensitive resort informationQualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field requiredMinimum 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a luxury hotel or resort environmentSolid knowledge of Acumatica and/or Birchstreet strongly preferred; experience with ProfitSword, OPERA, Micros, or Hotel Effectiveness a plusProficient in Microsoft Office, particularly ExcelStrong understanding of GAAP, financial controls, and hospitality accounting practicesExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detailAbility to manage competing priorities and adapt to the demands of a dynamic, seasonal operationStrong interpersonal and communication skills; able to collaborate effectively across departmentsHigh level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information
