Role Description The Golf Course Groundskeeper is a full-time, on-site role located in Valley, AL, responsible for maintaining the overall condition and appearance of the golf course. Day-to-day tasks include mowing greens, fairways, and roughs; trimming and edging around course features; raking bunkers; and assisting with turf care such as fertilization and pest control under supervision. The role involves operating and performing basic maintenance on golf course equipment, monitoring and adjusting irrigation systems, and ensuring safe, clean, and playable course conditions. The Groundskeeper collaborates with the grounds team, follows established safety procedures, and may interact with golfers and campus guests to provide courteous assistance when needed.
Qualifications
Strong communication and customer service skills to interact professionally with team members, golfers, and campus guests.Knowledge of golf course operations and familiarity with golf rules, etiquette, and play areas.Experience with irrigation systems, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and basic adjustments.Ability to safely operate and care for golf equipment such as mowers, trimmers, utility vehicles, and related tools.Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions, including lifting, bending, and extended periods of standing or walking.Attention to detail and commitment to course aesthetics, safety, and playability.Previous groundskeeping, landscaping, or turf maintenance experience preferred; golf course experience is a plus.High school diploma or equivalent recommended; willingness to learn and follow instructions in alignment with the university’s mission and values.
