Our client, a renowned golf resort situated in sunny Orlando, Florida , is actively searching for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Golf Course Superintendent. This demanding position is responsible for the meticulous planning, execution, and oversight of all golf course maintenance operations, ensuring pristine playing conditions that meet the highest industry standards. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of turfgrass management, irrigation systems, pest and disease control, and the operation and maintenance of groundskeeping equipment. You will lead a dedicated team of groundskeepers, providing training, supervision, and performance evaluations. Key responsibilities include developing annual agronomic plans, managing the maintenance budget effectively, coordinating with golf professionals and management on course conditioning, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and sustainable practices. This role requires a deep understanding of soil science, drainage, and fertilization techniques, as well as a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in course maintenance. The successful applicant will demonstrate exceptional leadership abilities, strong organizational skills, and the capacity to make critical decisions under pressure. A degree or certification in Horticulture, Turfgrass Management, or a related field is strongly preferred, coupled with at least 5 years of relevant supervisory experience. Responsibilities: Develop and implement comprehensive agronomic programs for the golf course. Oversee all daily golf course maintenance activities, including mowing, irrigation, and hand-watering. Manage and mentor a team of golf course maintenance staff. Control and manage the golf course maintenance budget. Maintain and operate all groundskeeping equipment safely and efficiently. Implement pest, disease, and weed control programs in an environmentally responsible manner. Monitor and manage irrigation systems to ensure optimal turf health. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal environmental regulations. Collaborate with resort management and golf professionals on course conditioning. Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, chemical applications, and expenditures. Qualifications: Degree or certification in Turfgrass Management, Horticulture, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in golf course maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. In-depth knowledge of turfgrass varieties, soil science, and agronomic practices. Proficiency in irrigation system management and repair. Experience with integrated pest management (IPM) strategies. Strong leadership and team management skills. Ability to operate heavy machinery and groundskeeping equipment. Valid driver's license and a commitment to safety protocols. Excellent communication and record-keeping abilities.
