About the Role
Lincoln Homestead State Park is a park located just north of Springfield, Kentucky in Washington County. The park encompasses 120 acres and features both historic and reproduced homes of Abraham Lincoln's family. Our 18-hole regulation course takes advantage of the natural rolling hills of central Kentucky. With four tee locations, golfers of all levels can find the right course to challenge their game. The course features bermudagrass tees and fairways, and bentgrass greens. There are beautiful lakes and incredible vistas throughout the golf course. Lincoln Homestead State Park has a gift shop, fishing lake, non-powered boat ramp, shelter with small playground, an 18-hole disc golf course, and offers self-guided tours of historic buildings and rental of clubhouse space for small events or gatherings. Two years of experience working on a golf course maintenance staff is required. An Associate Degree in Plant Sciences or a Certificate of Turfgrass Management from an accredited university can substitute for ONE of the required two years working experience.
Assists Golf Course Superintendent in all phases of golf maintenance and agronomic operations, cost control, and personnel. Leads staff and performs duties in the care and maintenance of the turf, ornamental plants, shrubs, trees, and wetlands on the facility grounds under the guidance of the Golf Course Superintendent. Leads staff in projects and routine maintenance activities. Calibrates and operates the equipment necessary to apply chemicals and fertilizers. Applies irrigation water in accordance with procedures. Diagnoses irrigation repair needs and performs repairs. Directs, trains, and assists a group of maintenance personnel in the performance of routine care and maintenance work for a golf course. Inspects machinery and equipment to determine their operating condition and repair needs. Purchases supplies for the park and golf course. Performs public relations functions in the absence of the Golf Course Superintendent. Prepares operating records and makes reports of park and golf activities. Prepares reports, summaries, and recommendations pertaining to golf course development. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification. Must obtain Kentucky Pesticide Applicator License within six months of employment. The N-18 Pesticide Applicators License required by this position can be obtained by passing the test administered by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.
