Key duties include recipe creation, managing inventory, maintaining a clean and sanitary workspace, and potentially supervising other kitchen staff. Qualifications can range from a high school diploma for entry-level positions to an associate or bachelor's degree in pastry arts for more advanced roles, along with strong technical skills, creativity, and attention to detail. ** ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILTIES *** Creation and preparation: Bake a wide variety of goods, such as cakes, cookies, pies, pastries, and breads, following both traditional and new recipes. * Decoration: Decorate desserts with frostings, glazes, and toppings to create visually appealing presentations. * Menu development: Contribute ideas for new dishes and create custom desserts. * Inventory and ordering: Check and order ingredients and supplies for the pastry section. * Kitchen management: Maintain a clean and hygienic work area and manage kitchen staff. * Record-keeping: Keep accurate records of food costs and inventory. ** REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES *** High school education or equivalent experience.
