About the Role
Our client, a premier golf resort, is seeking an accomplished and charismatic Head Golf Professional to oversee all golf operations at their exclusive facility in **Huntsville, Alabama, US**. This leadership role is responsible for managing the golf shop, instructing golfers of all skill levels, overseeing tournament operations, and ensuring an exceptional guest experience. The Head Golf Professional will be a key ambassador for the resort, embodying a passion for the game and a commitment to excellence in service. This demanding position requires a blend of strong business acumen, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a deep understanding of golf instruction and course management.
Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day golf operations, including the golf shop, practice facilities, and bag storage. Develop and implement strategic plans for the golf facility to enhance revenue and member/guest satisfaction. Provide high-quality golf instruction and lessons to individuals and groups, catering to all skill levels. Organize, promote, and execute successful golf tournaments, leagues, and special events. Oversee the selection, inventory, and merchandising of all golf shop stock, ensuring profitability. Manage the golf staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluation. Maintain the highest standards of customer service, ensuring a welcoming and professional atmosphere for all golfers. Manage tee time reservations and player flow to optimize course utilization. Develop and implement marketing initiatives to promote golf programs and services. Build and maintain strong relationships with members, guests, and the local golf community. Ensure adherence to all club policies and procedures. Manage the budget for the golf operations department and track financial performance. Stay current with golf industry trends, technologies, and best practices. Collaborate with other resort departments to ensure seamless guest experiences. Uphold the reputation and standards of the resort through exemplary leadership and service. Qualifications:
PGA Certified Professional status is required. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in golf operations, with at least 3 years in a Head Golf Professional or Assistant Head Professional role. Demonstrated success in golf instruction, tournament operations, and golf shop management. Proven ability to manage staff effectively and foster a team-oriented environment. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills. Strong understanding of golf equipment, merchandising, and inventory management. Experience in developing and executing marketing plans for golf facilities. Proficiency with golf management software (e.g., Jonas, Clubessential) is essential. A passion for the game of golf and a commitment to promoting its growth. Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays. Strong business acumen and financial management skills. Knowledge of golf rules and etiquette.
