The City of Louisville is seeking a talented Head Golf Professionalfor the Coal Creek Golf Course. Come join an award-winning public golf course that offers an exceptional golf experience for players of all abilities, along with breathtaking views of the surrounding Rocky Mountains.
The Head Golf Professional works under the direction of the Golf General Manager and is responsible for assisting with the management of the Coal Creek Golf Course operations and associated profit centers: daily green fees, golf carts, practice range facilities, golf shop sales, lesson programming, club repairs, club fitting, season pass sales, and specialty group sales. This role is ultimately responsible for providing a quality golf experience at all levels of play, while incorporating superior customer service, value, programs, services, and environmental stewardship that compliments the community's values and ideals as a public recreational facility.
Hiring Range: $89,191 plus additional compensation for applicable lesson rates
Examples of Duties
• Evaluate and manage scheduling, registration, and operation of golf rounds
• Assist the General Manager in implementing strategies and management of all profit centers, including:
• Golf course green fees
• Annual season pass fees
• Golf cart, push cart, and golf club rentals
• Four (4) practice facilities
• Pro Shop merchandise
• Instructional programming
• Ensure adherence to all City procedures for the acquisition of goods and services along with safe and efficient receipts management from profit centers
• Assist in hiring and training an efficient and professional staff to operate the profit centers while maintaining a safe environment
• Monitor and administer accurate use of POS system, online tee time system, dynamic pricing system, and Coal Creek Golf Course web site
• Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent toward the common goal of creating a memorable experience with emphasis on value
• Create comprehensive instructional programs that benefit a wide variety of skill levels
• Coordinate schedules and supply professional guidance to Men, Women, Junior, and Senior organizations who conduct regularly-scheduled events throughout the year
• Market, sell, coordinate, and administer local and regional golf outings in conjunction with our Food & Beverage concessionaire
• Administer all aspects of the systems that schedule, register, and monitor daily play and tournament activity in coordination with the Golf Course Superintendent including the tee sheet
• Report all revenues and expenses to the Finance department within established City of Louisville guidelines
• Design and implement pace-of-play programs to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction
• Create high profile lesson programs capable of attracting and retaining all levels of players to the Course and facilities to maintain a sustainable loyal customer base
• Coordinate the scheduling of play between the general public, seven hundred plus (700+) season pass holders, ten (10) golf leagues, and fundraising golf outings
• Enforce Coal Creek Golf Course rules and regulations
• Coordinate all golf activities with the Food & Beverage concessionaire to provide maximum service to Golf Course guests
• Perform various personnel-related activities:
• Create and update procedures manual to reflect best practices
• Hire, train, and supervise all current and new employees in golf operations
• Administer City of Louisville policies and procedures
• Evaluate employees on a regular basis per guidelines
• Oversee all timesheet procedures and hours worked
• Conduct staff meetings
• Schedule staff
• Prepare statistical analysis for validation of programs and strategies for Director of Parks, Recreation, and Open Space, Finance Committee of City Council, and the Recreation Advisory Board
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to achieve common goal
• Serve as a professional ambassador of the City; Parks, Recreation, and Open Space department; Coal Creek Golf Course, and the PGA by maintaining a professional image along with providing and guiding staff in exceptional customer service
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work directly with Food & Beverage concessionaire to provide exceptional customer service, maintenance and repair of all kitchen equipment, and executes all other provisions per the City's contractual agreement with the concessionaire
• Collaborate and benchmark current operations with golf staff from other golf courses on all fees, marketing, player development, special events, and staffing on a regular basis to promote a team environment
• Coordinate and implement golf programs for all levels of players
• Participate in all phases of Golf Course website design, development, maintenance, mobile applications, on-line tee times, building of customer email account base, use of third party marketing vendor, and development of a customer loyalty program
• Prepare and administer the annual budget for Golf Course clubhouse operations as instructed by the Director of Parks, Recreation, and Open Space
General Qualifications
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor's degree from college or university with major coursework in business administration or a closely-related field
• Five (5) years' experience as a Golf Professional or an Assistant Golf Professional
• Experience operating a high volume golf facility with 25,000 or more annual rounds
• Experience in golf shop operations, including merchandise selection, pricing, and revenue projections for at least three (3) years
• Class A PGA membership with good standing OR PGA member working toward a Class A membership
• Experience in marketing or general golf course promotions preferred
• An equivalent combination of acceptable education, training, and experience may be considered
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
• Excellent public relations, interpersonal, and management skills
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to utilize computer management systems for tracking revenues, rounds, merchandise and other statistical information that is relevant to achieve all reporting standards
• Ability to utilize different forms of marketing working closely with the community to enhance participation, revenue, and Golf Course promotion
• Ability to supervise all employees involved in the Golf Course clubhouse operation
• Collect, deposit, and account for all golf course fees and charges in accordance with established City policy
• Maintain Class A PGA membership with good standing
• Implement high profile lesson programs for all levels of playing ability
• Demonstrate thorough knowledge and expertise of golf principles and practices as they apply to management of the business functions of a municipal government department, leadership in strategic planning, and creative advancement of the goals of the City through Parks & Recreation

• Assist the GM in supervising First and Second Assistant Golf Professionals and line-level Pro Shop staff

Additional Information
LICENSE, CERTIFICATE, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
Current Colorado Driver License in good standing with no major violations in the past three (3) years and must maintain good standing through employment.
Additional compensation opportunities
Golf Instruction: Assistant golf professionals are required to maintain time records within the City's Executime (time & attendance) software, detailing time spent as instructors separate of time spent in primary duties. Lessons will be coded and paid under a different pay rate than base pay.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak, read, and hear. Constant hearing to effectively communicate with guests, staff and to be aware of any possible dangers on golf course is required. The employee is frequently required to stand, use hands, fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach overhead. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs or 100 lbs with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. The ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner both in writing and verbally is essential to this position. Interaction with the public and coworkers is an everyday occurrence and requires the ability to direct, negotiate, and mediate.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a public golf course setting in which instruction and basic golf course operations are performed year round. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, and on occasion in inclement weather. The employee regularly works around golf course maintenance equipment and may be exposed to equipment vibration, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level can range from low to very loud. Travel by automobile is required to attend professional meetings and to coordinate the division's activities with other City departments and outside agencies.
