Our client, a premier golf resort located in the vibrant city of Tampa, Florida, US , is seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Golf Course Operations Manager. This critical leadership role is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the golf course, ensuring an exceptional experience for members and guests. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in golf course management, turfgrass science, staff leadership, and customer service. You will manage budgets, optimize course conditions, coordinate with the pro shop and food and beverage departments, and implement strategic initiatives to enhance the overall appeal and profitability of the golf operations. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, excellent communication skills, and a passion for the game of golf. You will lead a team of dedicated professionals, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Responsibilities include managing turf maintenance programs, coordinating aeration and irrigation schedules, overseeing equipment maintenance, and ensuring compliance with all environmental and safety regulations. You will also play a key role in membership development and retention, as well as in planning and executing special events and tournaments. The ability to effectively manage resources, control costs, and drive revenue is essential. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, blending on-site responsibilities with the flexibility to manage certain administrative tasks remotely. Collaboration with the club's executive team is paramount to align golf operations with the broader strategic goals of the resort. Key Responsibilities:
Oversee all aspects of daily golf course operations, including turf maintenance, course set-up, and player services. Manage and develop a high-performing team of groundskeepers, mechanics, and seasonal staff. Develop and implement annual maintenance plans and budgets, focusing on cost control and resource optimization. Ensure the highest standards of turfgrass health, playability, and aesthetic appeal. Coordinate with the Head Golf Professional and F&B Manager to ensure seamless guest experiences. Plan, organize, and execute golf tournaments, member events, and outings. Maintain and manage golf course equipment fleet, ensuring efficient operation and preventive maintenance. Uphold all club policies, safety regulations, and environmental standards. Contribute to membership growth and retention through exceptional service and course quality. Stay updated on industry best practices, new technologies, and trends in golf course management. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Agronomy, Golf Course Management, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in golf course management. Class A Superintendent certification (GCSAA) is highly desirable. Proven leadership and staff management skills. Strong knowledge of turfgrass physiology, pest and disease management, and irrigation systems. Experience with budgeting, financial management, and operational planning. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and golf course management software.
