About the Role
Job Description
Golf Course Mechanic will oversee, maintain proper operating function of golf course equipment and performs major and minor equipment repairs.
Responsibilities
· Schedule and perform appropriate preventative maintenance work
· Perform routine functions of maintenance and repairs of golf course/project equipment: tractors, riding mowers and hand mowers
· Keep all mowing equipment operable and properly sharpened
· Lubricate, inspect, overhaul and test powered hand mowers and riding mowers
· Maintain inventory and equipment maintenance recordkeeping system
· Maintain shop working area in neat, orderly fashion and observe working conditions in compliance with all appropriate safety and compliance laws
· Work with Superintendent and Golf Maintenance Crew in training and safety of equipment with entire staff
· Inspect, diagnose and repair mechanical defects/failures in various golf course maintenance equipment, including diesel-, electric- and gasoline-powered utility cars, sweepers, rollers, mowers, and other mechanical equipment used in golf course operations.
· Instruct and/or train golf course maintenance workers regarding preventive maintenance, and the proper cleaning of and safe operation of equipment
· Prioritize equipment repair and maintenance work
· Maintain a preventive maintenance program within budget on all equipment.
· Keep a complete set of records for equipment and parts inventory purchases, equipment conditions, costs of repairs and preventive maintenance for all equipment
· Spot check equipment for performance on the course, makes emergency repairs to equipment on the course, and services or supervises servicing of equipment prior to use
· Oversee the shop area maintenance
· Regulate employees' use of equipment in absence of superintendent and assistant superintendent, if needed, and performs other duties as directed by the superintendent
· Ability to move heavy objects
· Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions while repairing equipment
· Ability to diagnose mechanical troubles and determine appropriate maintenance work
· Ability to communicate effectively and keep business records
Experience
Must have a minimum of one year experience maintaining golf course equipment or 2 years’ experience as an Assistant Equipment Technician. Attendance in Equipment Service School or other mechanic education / training programs considered in place of some of work experience requirements.
Pay: $29.00 - $33.00 per hour
