Starts players on the golf course explaining the rules of play for the day.\nTours the golf course encouraging players to maintain a reasonable pace of play.\n\nEssential Duties:\n\n¨ Starts players on the first tee explaining the rules of play for the day.\n\n¨ Maintains an accurate starting sheet so the whereabouts of players are known.\n\n¨ Cues groups to move to the first tee and makes sure not more than one group is\non the tee at on time.\n\n¨ Tours the golf course assisting players when needed to maintain the posted\npace of play for the day.\n\n¨ Checks the restrooms and water stations on a regular schedule.\n\n¨ Maintains proper spacing on the golf course to avoid delays.\n\n¨ Completes the golfer tracking report on a daily basis.\n\n¨ Reminds players of the cart rules of the day.\n\n¨ Repairs ball marks and collects any trash that may be on the course. Replaces\nany hazard stakes or directional signage.\n\n¨ Communicates with the Golf Shop and Starter on a regular basis.\n\n¨ Monitors the course and ensure customer satisfaction. Assists golfers when\nneeded.\n\n¨ Reports all problem situations to the Head Professional in a timely manner.\n\n¨ Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.\n\n¨ Regular and reliable attendance.\n\n¨ Performs other duties as required.\n\n \n\nEducation/Experience:\n\nHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months\nrelated experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and\nexperience.\n\nKnowledge, Skills and Traits\n\n Actively pursue PGA membership (if a PGA Apprentice) in a timely manner\n through the PGA Professional Golf Management (PGA PGM) program\n Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility\n operations and tournament operations\n Fundamental supervisory practices and principles\n Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work\n ethic expected of all employees\n Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills\n Self-motivated with desire to promote and market\n Service and customer focused attitude\n Experienced in written and oral business communications\n Remain up-to-date on customer relationship management tactics and strategies\n Utilize the resources of PGA player development programs such as Get Golf\n Ready, PGA Sports Academy, Tee it Forward and others\n Experienced computer user including; Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficient in\n other applications, i.e. email, internet, tournament and database\n\n Maintain and promote a positive professional image within the community\n Attend conferences, workshops, meetings, and trade shows to keep abreast of\n marketing and business trends\n Maintain a credible golf game and remain current on teaching innovations\n Assist with golfer check-in and fee collection; control and manage play\n Assist with all opening and closing procedures\n Assist in managing facility tournament operations including weekly events\n Assist in tournament operations and weekly events including planning,\n pre-tournament contracts, post- tournament billing, promotion, course set-up,\n preparation, scoring, prize distribution, and follow up\n Assist with men’s, women’s, and junior golf events and programs\n Assist with management of outside service staff to ensure the highest quality\n of customer service is achieved\n Assist in managing golf car operation, practice facility, and club storage\n service (as applicable)\n\n Directly responsible for timely and consistently maintaining the club’s USGA\n Handicap System\n Conduct oneself in a professional manner and maintain a professional image at\n all times\n Assist with the administration of applicable staff via recordkeeping, work\n schedules, etc. in accordance with facility human resource policies\n Assist in coordinating golf activities with other departments\n\nPhysical Demands:\n\nFrequently stands and walks; reaches with hands and arms. Regularly sits and\nuses hands; talks or hears. Occasionally stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls.\nRegularly lifts up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.\n\nEnvironment/Noise:\n\nFrequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Occasionally works in wet or\nhumid conditions (non-weather).
