Job Title: Golf Course Superintendent
Department: Maintenance
Reports to: Director of Golf
Employment type: Full-Time weekends and holidays
Position Summary:
The Bridges Golf Course is looking for a motivated hands-on Superintendent to run all aspects of the golf course maintenance and staff. Including turf grass management, irrigation, equipment maintenance, clubhouse property, and supervision of maintenance staff.
The ideal candidate will be highly visible, hands-on, organized, and comfortable leading from the front while recruiting, developing, and retaining a strong maintenance team.
We are looking for someone who wants to do more than just maintain a golf course, but someone who has pride in ownership and the ability to continually improve course conditions, presentation, operational efficiency, and overall appearance of the facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Daily maintenance and conditioning of the 18 hole facility and practice areas
- Maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, rough, bunkers, practice areas, and surrounding property
- Develop and execute agronomic programs
- Fertilizer and chemical applications and oversight
- Irrigation system operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and long-term planning
- Equipment maintenance oversight and develop maintenance programs
- Recruitment of maintenance staff
- Daily course setup
- Oversight of drainage, turf improvement, tree management, landscaping, and course enhancement projects
- Manage budgets, purchasing, inventory, and labor
- Management and monitoring payroll and seasonal staffing
- Compliance with all applicable environmental, pesticides, workplace safety, and regulatory requirements
- Oversee winter snow plowing program
Leadership Expectations:
- Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and retain maintenance staff
- Establish clear expectation and accountability
- Communicate with staff, management, and vendors
- Develop seasonal staffing plans appropriately
- Lead by example and be willing to work alongside the team when necessary
- Mentor and develop existing team members
- Proud of course presentation and property appearance
Qualifications:
- Degree preferred but not required
- Wisconsin Pesticide Applicator’s License (or obtain one within 90 days)
- Working knowledge of irrigation systems
- Ability to work early hours, weekends and Holidays when needed, varying weather conditions
- Valid US Driver’s License
