Assistant Mechanic
Job Summary of Assistant Mechanic:
This role supports the maintenance, repair, and overall operation of golf course and resort equipment. Under the supervision of the Equipment Manager, this role ensures equipment is safe, functional, and properly maintained while upholding high standards of service and professionalism.
Job Duties and Responsibilities of Assistant Mechanic:
Assist in equipment maintenance, including mower grinding, sharpening, backlapping, and setting cut heights.Perform inspections, routine adjustments, and repairs on engines, transmissions, and other power equipment.Fabricate and weld components as needed for equipment repair.Oversee shop operations in the absence of the Equipment Manager.Respond to equipment failures in the field and ensure timely resolution.Maintain proper calibration and operation of spraying and fertilizer equipment.Receive, unload, and organize materials and inventory for maintenance and repair.Monitor and maintain service and storage areas, fuel storage, and wash bays.Assist in staff training and development, including ongoing equipment orientation programs.Participate in seasonal tasks such as snow removal and plowing.Ensure safe work practices are followed in all duties.Maintain a professional appearance and conduct while interacting with members, guests, and staff.Qualifications and Experience of Assistant Mechanic:
Minimum of three years of experience as a golf course equipment technician or in a related mechanical field.Working knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and mowing equipment.Ability to use common mechanical tools and follow written and oral instructions.Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals, business correspondence, and maintenance procedures.Strong problem-solving, analytical, and mathematical skills.Benefits of Assistant Mechanic:
