Spring Creek Golf Club is seeking a rising turf professional looking to elevate their career. Our maintenance team has added an Assistant in Training position tailored to an individual who is motivated to gain hands-on experience at one of the region’s premier golf facilities.
Located just outside Charlottesville, Spring Creek was masterfully designed by Ed Carton and features a truly special layout defined by wall-to-wall cool-season turf—a rare and demanding distinction in this region. Maintaining cool-season playing surfaces at a high level in the transition zone requires precision, adaptability, and a commitment to excellence.
This position is ideal for an aspiring turf manager looking to test their skills and develop a deep understanding of what it takes to maintain championship-level conditions in a challenging climate.
What You’ll Experience
• Hands-on involvement in all aspects of daily golf course maintenance
• Advanced management of cool-season turf in a transition-zone environment
• Water management, fertility planning, and plant health strategies
• Mowing and cultural practices for greens, tees, fairways, and roughs
• Exposure to course setup and tournament preparation
• Leadership development and team coordination experience
• Equipment operation and maintenance best practice

Educational Requirements
• Degree (or currently pursuing) in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, or related field preferred
