This includes the repair of broken or failing equipment, keeping records of parts and labor needed to maintain each piece of equipment and placing orders for parts and supplies needed for equipment or service.PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES1. Diagnoses and repairs mechanical defects in trucks, automobiles, sweepers, tractors, rollers, mowers and other mechanical equipment used in utility work2. Disassembles motors and performs general overhauling, repairs transmissions, differentials, carburetors, distributors, fuel pumps, universal joints, hydraulic systems and high pressure pumps and valves3. Installs and adjusts brakes, installs batteries, tires, wiring and glass4. Requires some machine or welding work in making fittings used in automotive equipment; occasionally makes emergency repairs out of shop5. Maintains a preventive maintenance program on all equipment6. Purchases repair parts and replacement supplies7. Spot checks equipment for performance in the field8. Services or supervises servicing of equipment prior to operations use and is responsible for shop maintenance9. Adjusts and prepares cutting mechanisms of a wide variety of heavy and light mowing equipment10.
