Burning Tree Club, founded in 1922 is an 18-hole private golf club located inside the Capital Beltway of Washington DC. Originally designed by C.H. Alison of Colt, Mackenzie and Alison. The club underwent a restoration project in 2019-2020 guided by Gil Hanse. This consisted of Green and Fairway expansions, new designed bunkers, practice facility and Rainbird IC irrigation system.
Greens are 007 Bentgrass, with 16 native soil and 6 renovated greens that are sand based. Fairways renovated in 2015 are a blend of 007 and SR1150 Bentgrass, and Tees consist of 007 and PennCross.
This position will provide an excellent opportunity to manage turf in the transition zone. One will learn to balance Turfgrass health and playablitity in the "Mid-Atlantic's" demanding environment, RainBird irrigation, GPS chemical/fertilizer applications, crew management, disease and pest id and control, and the business side of being a golf course superintendent.
