About the Role
Join a prestigious golf club in the vibrant city of **Miami, Florida, US**, as their Head Golf Course Superintendent. Our client is seeking a passionate and experienced professional to oversee the meticulous maintenance and immaculate presentation of their championship golf course. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a deep understanding of turfgrass management, agronomy, and irrigation systems. The Head Golf Course Superintendent will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive agronomic plans to ensure optimal playing conditions throughout the year, adapting to Miami's unique climate and environmental challenges. This includes managing the application of fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides in accordance with all local and federal regulations, with a strong emphasis on sustainable practices. You will lead and manage a dedicated team of groundskeepers, providing training, supervision, and performance evaluations to ensure high standards of work. Budget management is a critical component, requiring the ability to develop and adhere to an annual operating budget, including equipment purchasing and capital expenditure planning. Maintaining and operating all golf course maintenance equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency, will also be a key responsibility. Furthermore, you will collaborate closely with the Golf Course Architect, Club Management, and the Greens Committee to address course conditions, plan future projects, and ensure the course meets the highest expectations of members and guests. Responsibilities:
Develop and execute comprehensive agronomic plans for the golf course. Manage turfgrass health, including fertilization, pest control, and disease management. Oversee irrigation system operation and maintenance. Lead, train, and supervise grounds maintenance staff. Develop and manage the annual operating budget. Ensure compliance with all environmental and safety regulations. Maintain and manage all golf course maintenance equipment. Collaborate with management and committees on course projects and conditions.
Qualifications:
Degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Turfgrass Management, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in golf course maintenance, with at least 3 years in a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent role. GCSAA Class A or AIT certification preferred. Thorough knowledge of turfgrass science, irrigation, and pest management. Strong leadership, communication, and budgeting skills. Valid driver's license and ability to operate heavy machinery.
