About the Role
Position Overview
Barton Creek Country Club & Resort is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Golf Course Superintendent to lead agronomic operations for two premier courses— Fazio Foothills and Crenshaw Cliffside —totaling 36 holes of championship golf.
This is a key leadership role within a nationally recognized, multi-course resort operation. The Senior Superintendent will be responsible for delivering exceptional course conditions, leading and developing team members, and executing agronomic programs that align with both private club expectations and high-volume resort play.
Key Responsibilities
Agronomic Leadership
Execute comprehensive agronomic programs for 36 holes Manage all aspects of turfgrass health, including fertility, irrigation, pest control, and cultural practices Deliver consistent, high-quality playing conditions aligned with property standards Monitor and adjust programs based on weather, play volume, and course conditions Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and develop Assistant Superintendents and crew members Establish clear expectations, accountability, and performance standards Foster a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment Support recruiting, training, and retention of high-performing team members Operations & Planning
Coordinate daily maintenance operations across both courses Collaborate with the Director of Agronomy on long-term planning and capital projects Manage budgets, labor, and resource allocation effectively Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and company standards Communication
Maintain strong communication with leadership, golf operations, and membership Provide regular updates on course conditions, projects, and agronomic practices Represent the department in meetings with ownership and club leadership
Qualifications
Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or Senior Assistant at a high-end facility Proven experience managing championship-level golf courses Strong knowledge of warm-season turfgrass management, particularly ultradwarf bermudagrass Experience in multi-course or high-volume operations preferred Degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, or related field preferred Texas pesticide applicator’s license (or ability to obtain) Valid driver’s license Skills & Competencies
