Overview
Overbrook Golf Club has an Assistant Golf Professional position open and has asked us to inform all PGA professionals in the Philadelphia Section, as well as those professionals that meet Overbrook’s criteria in other sections, about this opportunity.
The 35,000-square-feet facility has both formal and informal dining with outdoor dining also available. The practice facility includes a driving range, two practice short-game areas and three practice greens.
The club has 350 golfing members, including a thriving Ladies and Senior Association as well as a large and successful Youth Golf Program which boasts nearly 150 juniors. Overbrook has an extensive tournament program, including GAP and Philadelphia PGA events and plays approximately 25,000 annual rounds of golf.
Position Description: The employer is looking for a professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. He or she should have considerable teaching and tournament operations experience. Additionally, Overbrook is seeking an organized, creative Professional with an ability to maintain the highest levels of customer service.
The Assistant Golf Professional will provide the Overbrook members with a unique and exceptional golfing experience, help manage the direct the day-to-day golf activities, teach private and group instruction and manage an extensive tournament schedule.
This position will begin in the Spring of 2025 and reports to the Head Golf Professional.
Experience Required
-Class-A PGA or LPGA member in good standing
-3+ Years Experience at High End Private Golf Clubs (preferred)
-Engaging Personality
-Professional Appearance and Demeanor
-Desire to become a Head Golf Professional or Director of Golf in the future
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with high energy and enthusiasm, and the ability to generate interest in the golf program
- An experienced teacher using technology (Overbrook currently uses Trackman/Sportsbox AI, etc.)
-Assist in our award winning Youth Golf Program led by 2022 Philadelphia PGA Teacher of the Year, Dave “Coach Z” Zimmaro
Essential Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
-Responsible for maintaining the day-to-day golf operations at the Club. This includes a comprehensive teaching program, Golf Genius Software and Whoosh (tee time and check-in system). This also includes the greeting of members and their guests upon arrival at the golf shop, making them feel welcomed to the Club, and caring for their golfing needs.
-Responsible for training and supervising all employees engaged in the golf operations of the Club. This includes other assistant professionals and golf operations staff.
-Assist with a comprehensive teaching program that would include the use of cutting-edge technology (Trackman/Sportsbox AI).
-Responsible for working closely with the Golf Shop Manager to help merchandise and maintain inventory of the Overbrook Golf Shop which averages over $750K in gross sales.
-Responsible for promoting the game of golf to all members of the Club (1200 members, including golf, social, swim and tennis).
