About the Role
Our client, a prestigious golf resort located in the vibrant **Orlando, Florida, US**, seeks an experienced and dedicated Head Golf Course Superintendent to oversee the immaculate maintenance and presentation of its championship golf courses. This is a hands-on role requiring exceptional horticultural knowledge, strong leadership abilities, and a commitment to delivering an unparalleled golfing experience. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of turfgrass management, irrigation systems, pest and disease control, and staff supervision. You will be responsible for all agronomic practices, budget management, and ensuring the course meets the highest standards of playability and aesthetics year-round.
Responsibilities: Develop and implement comprehensive agronomic plans for all golf course areas, including greens, tees, fairways, and roughs. Manage and maintain all aspects of the irrigation system, ensuring efficient water usage and optimal turf hydration. Supervise, train, and schedule a team of groundskeepers, foremen, and mechanics. Oversee pest and disease management programs, utilizing integrated pest management (IPM) principles. Manage the golf course budget effectively, controlling costs related to labor, materials, and equipment. Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and operated safely. Monitor course conditions daily and make necessary adjustments to mowing, fertilization, and pest control schedules. Collaborate with the golf professional staff and management to ensure course conditions meet playing expectations. Maintain detailed records of all agronomic activities, including chemical applications, soil tests, and weather data. Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and safety standards. Qualifications: Degree in Agronomy, Horticulture, Turfgrass Management, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent on a reputable golf course. GCSAA Class A certification preferred. Extensive knowledge of turfgrass species, soil science, and plant physiology. Proficiency in irrigation system operation and management. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Experience with budget management and financial planning. Knowledge of integrated pest management (IPM) strategies. Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
