Salary: $53,885.27 - $80,827.90 Annually Location : Mesquite, TX Job Type: Full-time Job Number: 2500264 Department: Parks and Recreation Division: Golf Course Opening Date: 06/03/2025 Closing Date: 7/3/2025 4:00 PM Central GENERAL SUMMARY Salary: $53,885.27/annual minimum - $80,827.90/annual max (Depending on qualifications) To direct, manage, supervise and coordinate the maintenance activities and operations of the golf course maintenance staff within the Parks and Recreation Department. SUPERVISION General supervision is provided by the Manager of Golf. Responsible for supervision of golf course maintenance staff. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct and Rules of Behavior as outlined in Chapter 8 of the General Government Policies and Procedures Manual.Manage, direct and organize golf maintenance activities. Make periodic inspections of golf facilities and maintenance equipment to ensure employee and public safety.Participate in the development and administration of the golf course maintenance annual budget; monitor the need for additional funds for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; oversee and approve expenditures; and implement adjustments as necessary.Assist the Manager of Golf in preparing equipment specifications for the purchase of new equipment; prepare cost estimates for proposed projects; review and recommend bids; prepare related contract documents and approve contractor payments and change orders.Assist the Manager of Golf in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and priorities for golf maintenance and related programs; recommend, within departmental policy, appropriate service and staffing levels; recommend and administer policies and procedures.Select, train, motivate and evaluate Golf Services Division personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures; instruct and monitor the work of contractors.Evaluate attendance, safety compliance, equipment maintenance, work quality and productivity.Provide all chemical applications on all golf course turf. MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION Bachelor\'s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in park administration, horticulture, plant/ soil sciences, agronomy, soil sciences or other related field. EXPERIENCE Two years of professional experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or five years of professional experience as an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent; and two years of supervisory or administrative responsibility. Professional level work experience may substitute for bachelor degree requirement. One year of professional level work experience may be substituted for each year of required education, up to a maximum substitution of four years. High school diploma or GED is required when substituting professional level work experience for the bachelor\'s degree requirement. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES Requires a valid driver\'s license. The following certifications are preferred: Possession of a GCSAA Membership or ability to obtain within three months of employment as a condition of continued employment. Possession of a State of Texas Structural Pest Control Certification or Texas Department of Agriculture Application License or possession of similar license issued by another state, with the condition that the successful applicant obtain a State of Texas Structural Pest Control Certification or Texas Department of Agriculture Application License within three months of employment as a condition of continued employment. Basic Group Life Insurance protection is provided to eligible full-time employees in the amount of two times the annual salary as recorded at the beginning of each year. The following voluntary benefits are available to full-time employees: Supplemental Life, AD&D Insurance, Cancer Insurance and Long-Term Disability Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS): All employees appointed to positions designated to work 1,000 hours or more per year must participate in the TMRS. TMRS is a qualified tax-deferred retirement plan under Section 401 of the IRS. Seven (7) percent of gross earnings are deducted each payroll as a pre-tax deduction and deposited into the member account. When an employee becomes vested and retires, the City provides 2-to-1 matching contributions.
