Essential Job Duties
Working at Lonnie Poole Golf Course means more than just cutting grass—it means maintaining the home turf of the NC State Wolfpack. We are looking for reliable and hardworking individuals to join our Grounds Crew team. We take pride in our facility, and this position is vital in assisting with daily golf course maintenance to ensure high-quality playing conditions and pristine overall course appearance.
There are currently two positions available.
Duties And Responsibilities Include But Not Limited To
Assist in all areas of golf course groundskeepingPerform landscaping, sodding, and general course upkeepApply fertilizers and pesticides on and around the courseMow and maintain fairways, roughs, fringes, and greensConduct ornamental and turf pest controlMaintain and repair sprinkler and irrigation systemsAssist with fencing installation and maintenancePerform tree trimming and debris removalOperate and maintain golf course maintenance equipmentComplete daily assignments independently and according to work schedules
Work Environment
Outdoor work environment with exposure to heat, cold, rain, and other weather conditionsPerform strenuous physical labor for long periods of time, walking on uneven surfaces, bending, crouching, or kneeling, pushing/pulling of levers on equipment and machinery.Lifting up to 70 lbs. frequently, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Work with your supervisor and colleagues to understand these goals and the culture.Adhere to all University policies, procedures, and regulations, and Division standard operating practices and protocols.Perform other duties as assigned to ensure Lonnie Poole Golf Course business needs are met.Duties in other locations may be assigned by management to utilize knowledge and skills during peak or slow periods, or when emergency situations occur in other areas.
Qualifications
Minimum Experience/Education
High school or General Educational Development ( GED ) diploma and possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualifications: North Carolina Pesticide License may be required and can be obtained within six months of employment; North Carolina Commercial Driver’s License may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with golf maintenance/lawn care/landscapingWorking knowledge and applicability of tools, methods, and materials used in golf course and ground maintenanceOperational knowledge of equipment used: walking and riding mowers, tee mowers, fairway mowers, rough mowers, rollers, bunker rakes, carts, push mowers, and a variety of powered and non-powered hand toolsAbility to work independently and to complete daily activities and assignments according to work scheduleExcellent punctuality, dependability, and work ethic
