The Golf Course Director performs a variety of administrative, supervisory, and professional work in the maintenance and operation of the municipal golf course and associated facilities. This position reports to the City Manager and oversees all aspects of golf course operations, including staff management, budgeting, course maintenance, customer service, and community engagement.1. Strategic Planning and Leadership:
Develop and implement short and long-range plans to enhance the quality, profitability, and sustainability of the golf course. Provide leadership and direction to staff, ensuring efficient operations and high standards of performance. Coordinate department activities with other city departments and external stakeholders. 2. Financial Management:
Prepare and administer annual operating, maintenance, and capital budgets. Monitor revenues and expenditures to ensure fiscal responsibility and sound financial management. Coordinate contracts for concessions, cart rentals, and other services. 3. Course Maintenance and Improvement:
Supervise course maintenance and improvement projects in collaboration with maintenance staff. Oversee the mowing, fertilizing, pest control, and irrigation systems to maintain course conditions. Ensure equipment and facilities are properly maintained and in working condition. 4. Customer Service and Community Engagement:
Foster a culture of exceptional customer service and hospitality for patrons. Coordinate golf programs, tournaments, and events to attract and retain customers. Serve as a liaison to golf associations, leagues, tournaments, and the general public. 5. Staff Supervision and Training:
Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate groundskeepers, clubhouse staff, and other employees. Provide necessary supervision, direction, and assistance to staff to ensure effective operations. 6. Regulatory Compliance and Safety:
Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices. Implement and enforce safety regulations and procedures to protect staff and patrons. 7. Marketing and Promotion:
Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote the golf course and attract new customers. Coordinate course promotions, advertisements, and special events. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Turfgrass Management, or a related field Minimum of 5 years of experience in golf course operations and management. Golf course management experience beyond five years may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with staff, customers, and stakeholders Knowledge of golf course operations, maintenance practices, and industry trends Experience in budgeting, financial management, and business planning Proficiency in computer applications relevant to golf course management, such as golf management software, Microsoft Office, and POS systems PGA or GCSAA certification is a plus Valid driver's license In addition to completing the application, each applicant should upload a resume and cover letter. The selected candidate will be subject to a comprehensive background check and a drug screening p rior to employment . The selected candidate will have a choice of retirement plans: membership in the Miami Springs General Employees Retirement System or a City-funded 401a plan. The Golf Course Director is a salaried, at-will employee who serves at the pleasure of the City Manager.
