About the Role
POSITION SUMMARY: Greenskeepers, under the supervision of the Course Superintendent, perform routine manual labor involved in golf course maintenance; have basic skills in grounds construction and maintenance work; operate small hand-powered equipment; and occasionally perform work involving larger equipment such as tractors. Can operate basic mowing equipment such as rough mowers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned whether or not in this job description, at any time, by the Golf Course Superintendent, or designee.
Supports the goals and objectives of the Club and in accordance with the Club's commitment to Total Member Satisfaction, must have professional, service oriented attitude at all times.
Follows safe work practices at all times.
Must adhere to schedule, report to work on time, well groomed and wearing a clean uniform.
Must be available to work weekends and overtime at Supervisors discretion.
Operates mowers and string trimmers in mowing greens, aprons, tees, and trimming around trees, fence lines, banks and hillside; edge cart paths; edges, rakes and maintains sand bunkers.
Maintains fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment on a daily basis; reports equipment problems or failure to the equipment manager immediately.
Returns all equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility; and cleans the maintenance areas.
Helps in project work; assists in the construction of new green, tees and fairways; grades and prepares soil base; lays sod; and seeds tees, greens, and fairways.
Excavates and backfills ditches and trenches with hand tools or trencher, repairs and replaces pipe on irrigation systems.
May be asked to operate mowers and other light equipment.
Performs spot watering of greens, tees, fairways and rough.
Keeps ground and shop area clean and organized.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job level has no supervisory responsibilities. However, the employee must show ability to work responsibly, safely, efficiently and enthusiastically when alone performing a job task
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of methods used in grounds and landscape area construction/maintenance work. Working knowledge of and ability to use hand and power tools and equipment. Ability to operate light motorized equipment.
Language/Interpersonal Skills: Must be able to communicate clearly and be able to understand and follow verbal instructions. Possess excellent teamwork skills, maintain positive working relationships, promotes a cooperative, courteous, friendly, accommodating and respectful attitude towards members, guests, and colleagues.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with and solve problems involving several variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid State driver's license.

Must be able to work extended hours, to include weekends and holidays as necessary. while performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, kneel, stoop, bend, climb, balance, push, shove, lift, carry and move objects that can weigh approximately 50 -100 lbs. This can occur throughout the day. The employee must be able to talk and hear.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to transport oneself throughout the project site including but not limited to the golf course, pro shop, restaurant/lounge, and other community areas.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to remain focused, work constructively, effectively and cheerfully in an environment that may be stressful due to adversarial situations. Must be mentally alert, aware and safety conscious at all times. The employee may be required to participate in more than one assignment at a time with frequent interruptions, changes, and delays.
The work environment is often fast paced. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions (wet and/or humid conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat) and must be able to adapt to the climate with marked changes in temperature.
Must be able to operate a vehicle in a safe manner under what could be difficult conditions, eliminating danger to oneself and others.

EQUIPMENT USED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THE JOB: Mowers, string trimmers, hand tools, small power tools, hoses and sprinklers, various vehicles and specialized machines.
