Position: Outside Services Manager (Poppy Hills Golf Course) Location: Pebble Beach Description Originally built in 1986 and renovated in 2014, Poppy Hills Golf Course was the first course in the United States to be owned and operated by an amateur golf association, currently serving as the headquarters and tournament home of the NCGA. Each uniquely crafted hole is chiseled through the towering Monterey Pines of the Del Monte Forest, offering sneak peaks of the beautiful and iconic Monterey Bay and a chance to watch playful young deer among the freshly sprung California Poppy. Position Outside Services Manager Status: Non-Exempt Reports to: Director, Golf Position Summary The Outside Service Manager supervises the activities of the Outside Service staff working in the staging area, golf cart facilities, practice facilities, as well as course Marshals and Starters. This individual is responsible for assisting in training, scheduling, and evaluating the performance of the team as part of the facility goal to provide the highest level of service for NCGA Members and Guests. Duties And Responsibilities • Supervise Outside Services staff, ensuring that members and guests are greeted and assisted upon arrival and departure. • Train staff to positively promote and provide the service to the standards of Poppy Hills. • Facilitate a culture of customer first service through leading by example. • In conjunction with the Director of Golf, hire, train, and schedule the Outside Service team. Through the Director of Golf position, make any necessary recommendations for employment related actions (counseling, discipline, etc.). • Ensure all golf carts are properly cleaned, stocked, and carts are maintained as scheduled and are mechanically sound. • Conduct minor preventative maintenance on golf carts and maintain the appropriate records for their maintenance. • Ensure that the practice tee is set up according to the weekly schedule, and that is maintained in a clean, orderly manner throughout the day. • Ensure adequate supply and cleanliness of range practice balls. • Ensure that players are made aware of the rules and any special or daily play conditions/restrictions on the course. • Supervise and assist in training Marshals and Starters in best practices for facilitating positive guest experiences. • Monitor inventory levels for towels, pencils, tees, scorecards, and cleaning supplies. • Verify accuracy of sales tickets as it relates to services. • Be knowledgeable of pricing for greens and cart fees, practice fees, and other miscellaneous charges and keep staff aware of pricing structures. • Communicate emergency and safety information to Members and Guests in a calm and professional manner when alarms sound. • Promote an operation that is run in a safe and secure manner. • Work closely with the Golf Shop staff on all golf related activities. • Other duties as assigned include special projects. Requirements Required Qualifications • High school diploma or GED • Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations • Fundamental supervisory practices and principles • Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees • Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills • Service and customer focused attitude • Experienced in written and oral business communications Preferred Qualifications • Associate of Arts or Bachelor’s Degree Work Schedule • Individual shifts will vary, but standard hours for the position begin one (1) hour before the first tee time and shifts end as late as the final tee time of the day. Compensation And Benefits This is a full-time, Non-Exempt position, with a starting salary of $20.00-$25.00 per hour based on experience. Some clothing will be provided, with the employee expected to source and maintain a high-standard of attire at all times. Benefit package includes health, dental and vision insurance. Dependents may be added with premiums paid by the employee. Participation in the company’s 401k plan after one full year of employment.
