About the Role
Maintains golf course by mowing, trimming, and edging turf areas, prepping golf course for use, assisting in maintaining irrigation systems, providing landscaping as assigned, picking up trash, cleaning restrooms, while adhering to the scheduled maintenance.
Under the general supervision of the Golf Superintendent; assists in the training of all employees or volunteers.
Maintains the City of Copperas Cove Hills of Cove Golf course by mowing grass, weed-eating, edging, trimming trees, and irrigation repair.
Performs other essential duties as required to achieve successful operations of the department.
Ability to effectively communicate and work with citizens who may have complaints on services provided.
Serves as a member of various employee committees, as assigned.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Six (6) months of landscaping experience
Working knowledge of lawn mowers/tractors and hand tools.
Must possess a valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License by date of hire.
Probable shift work due to evening and weekend events.
Job location will vary due to seasonal sports.
Knowledge of the rules, regulations, and procedures of golf etiquette and events as they relate to grounds maintenance operations;
Knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used in building and grounds and/or turf maintenance;
Ability to have basic computer skills and ability to operate field maintenance equipment;
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations;
Formal application, rating of education and experience; TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
Pickup truck; lawn/turf and landscaping equipment, including tractors, mowers, acidifiers/aeration equipment, chain saw, edger's, backflows, weed trimmers, trailers, backhoe, electric motors, pumps, sprinklers, irrigation systems; Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Physical effort will include a full range of physical activity to include lifting, carrying and positioning objects up to 100 lbs; While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works in high, precarious places and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.
