Summer Golf Course Intern
Golf Course in Alexander City, Alabama is looking for a Summer Golf Course Intern.
Position Overview:
This internship will be tailored to fit each intern’s strengths and weaknesses, preparing you for the next step in your career as an Assistant Superintendent. Working closely with the Director of Agronomy, Golf Course Superintendents, and Assistant Superintendents, interns will have wide-ranging responsibilities that will prepare them for the high expectations of being an Assistant Superintendent. Be involved in course prep and setup, water management, fertilizer/pesticide calibration, mixing and application (including training on GPS sprayers), crew management, and learning the details of a golf course restoration project. Interns will gain valuable experience in USGA greens construction, Toro irrigation installation, Better Billy Bunker construction, and grassing of greens, tees, and fairways.
Requirements:
Must be enrolled in a 2- or 4-year turfgrass program or a related field.
Prior internship preferred.
Previous experience in golf course maintenance is preferred.
Willing to be the first to arrive and the last to leave.
Passion for golf course management and a strong work ethic.
Compensation:
$18 – $20 per hour.
