Greenskeeper II

About the position Reading Country Club is seeking a reliable, skilled Greenskeeper II to join our golf course maintenance team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on outdoor work, takes pride in maintaining beautiful playing conditions, and has experience with golf course equipment and grounds care. General Purpose: Performs a diverse range of activities involved in golf course maintenance and construction. Performs skilled grounds construction and maintenance work and related tasks. Responsibilities • Performs general landscape maintenance using handheld equipment. • Rakes sand traps with power rake, aerifies greens and tees. • Operates small machinery to assist with edging, trimming and mowing. • Prepares soil beds for sod, seed and vegetative material. • Operates walking equipment in mowing greens collars and tees. • Assists with fertilizer applications on tees, fairways and rough areas. • Operates riding equipment in mowing fairways, approaches and rough. • Operates sod cutter, trencher and tamper for routine projects. • Operates dump truck and tractors for hauling purposes. • Involved with tasks related to course detail (weed and debris clean up). • Assists with golf course set-up procedures. • Operates utility vehicles for hauling material and removing debris. • Performs skilled duties related to experience (pruning, plugging, etc.). • Operates equipment safely and is aware of associates and their prospective work areas. • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance. • Regular and reliable attendance. • Performs other duties as required. Requirements • Less than high school education; or up to three months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Regularly stands, walks, sits, and uses hands, reaches with hands and arms. • Occasionally climbs or balances; stoops, kneels, crawls or crouches. • Regularly talks or hears. • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds; up to 50 pounds with assistance. • Regularly works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather) and works near moving mechanical parts. • Occasionally works in high, precarious places and in areas with fumes or airborne particles. • Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. • Occasionally works in extreme heat (non-weather) and experiences vibration. • Noise level is loud. • Valid Driver’s License • Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English).
