ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
We are hiring a seasonal Groundsperson to join our Golf & Grounds team. The Groundsperson is responsible for operating various mechanical and manual tools and equipment in a safe, efficient and effective manner to improve aesthetics, maintain course conditions and playability of Westchester Country Club Grounds, for the membership’s enjoyment, while reducing the effects of extensive play. This position will also aid in the completion of various construction projects.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
The Groundsperson must complete all tasks and assignments assigned by the Director of Golf & Grounds and/or Superintendent, including but not limited to:
Manage preparation and assembly of required tools and equipmentOperate motorized equipmentPerform course maintenance, including but not limited to divot filling, mechanical and manual sand trap raking, rotary mowingMaintain familiarity with courses and groundsAssist in light construction projects across courses and groundsLearn, understand and utilize all equipment in safe and proper mannerParticipate in continuous on the job training
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Must possess a strong sense of direction, with the ability to plot and remember landmarks and understand mapsMust have ability to perform intermediate mechanical repairs, including change oil, filters, plugs and tiresMust have ability to operate a tractor and Cushman, including knowledge of calibration procedure and protective clothingMust have demonstrated proficiency in distinguishing Club courses, various hole numbers and other areas of the grounds including sprinkler heads and valve boxesMust possess, or have ability to develop, basic knowledge of various aspects of Golf & Grounds maintenance, including maintenance standards and equipment operationMust have strong attention to detailMust have ability to work variable schedule, including flexible shiftsMust have ability to work outdoors, including in various weather conditionsMust be safety and efficiency-minded, following safe operating procedures at all timesMust have demonstrated desire to contribute to the overall improvement of playability and aesthetics of Club courses and groundsMust demonstrate strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with team members, Members and guests
PAY RANGE
$17.00-$17.50 hourly compensation, commensurate with experience
