Job Description Cape Cod Academy, located in the beautiful town of Osterville Massachusetts on Cape Cod, is seeking applicants for a coaching position that will be available for the 2026-2027 school year.
Golf Varsity Coach Cape Cod Academy (CCA) is a selective, independent, coeducational day school educating students in grades K-12. Located on 45 acres in Osterville, MA, CCA serves students and families from towns across the Cape and just over the bridge. Established in 1976, CCA is committed to offering a personalized approach to learning (PAL) in all our classrooms. The foundation of the PAL Program is knowing each student so that instructional methods and techniques can be adapted to the student's learning process, making it the right fit for each individual learner. Programming includes student seminars, independent work, hands-on exercises, advisory meetings, and wellness activities. When students leave CCA, they are prepared to enter college as confident self-advocates for their own learning.
Cape Cod Academy is seeking a varsity golf coach. Under the direction of the athletic director, instructs and works with athletes to prepare them for competition. Coaches help athletes to play their best individually and as a team in sports. Coaches are experts on the rules, strategies, and techniques of their sports. Coaches must also know about sports equipment, physical fitness, safety as well as the related eligibility and compliance guidelines including MIAA.
To meet the basic qualification for this role, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Duties and Responsibilities Teach sports techniques, playing rules, strategies and playing tactics. Practice with clear objectives and goals including practice plans. Condition athletes appropriately for activities requiring endurance, strength and agility. Supervise and conduct practices and contests safely; supervise locker rooms and vehicles. Teach sportsmanship, cooperation, work ethic and responsibility to one's team. Respond to player injuries with approved first aid techniques. Model appropriate behavior and sportsmanship in and out of the athletic arena. Provide coverage for absent coaches. Provide positive motivation. Be responsible for information contained in the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Handbook. Remain informed of rule changes, trends, and recommendations that affect their particular sport. Be present at each practice session and at all contests of the sport coached. Develop an organized written practice plan to include adequate warm-up and cool-down procedures on a daily basis. Make sure that the facilities and equipment are safe and that safety procedures are taught and followed in all areas. Perform all duties/responsibilities assigned by the Director of Athletics. Implement game plans and game management. Process the medical forms, parent consent forms and eligibility reports. Directly supervise squad members at home and away contests. Supervise all team members that are transported by school buses. Communicate information regarding expectation, practices, competitions and other events with parents, players and administration in a timely manner. Conduct orientation programs for parents, athletes and assistant coaches. Develop procedures and establish open communication with parents and athletes to address any issues or concerns related to the team. Monitor athlete class attendance, behavior and academic progress. Ensure quality, effectiveness and validity of any oral or written correspondence with the media. Maintain professional decorum in both victory and defeat. Respect the integrity and judgment of the game officials. Provide a safe environment for practice and competition. Communicate and interpret program goals and objectives to parents and community. Strive to develop the qualities of leadership, initiative and good judgment in each team member. Create a set of training rules for athletes which reflects the positive values of abstaining from the use of drugs, alcohol and tobacco. Encourage and assist team members to set personal goals to achieve their highest academic potential. Recognize the individual worth and reinforce the self-image of each team member. Exemplify the highest moral character a role model for young people. Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have an outstanding commitment to working with children. The successful candidate has also demonstrated success working with parents and families, proven leadership qualities, experience or prior work in schools, outstanding interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. In addition, the qualified individual will be able to:
Previous successful playing and/or coaching; experience working with adolescents. Current CPR, First Aid Certification, completion of the MIAA Coaches Education Class and other requirements by the MIAA. Highly organized with the ability to direct athletes and provide high quality instruction. Demonstrate maturity, humility, professionalism, confidence, integrity, confidentiality, and a strong work ethic. Envision systems and ways to strengthen programming. Collaborate with colleagues to promote a culture of growth, exploration and discovery in learning. Work effectively with the leadership team. Inspire and connect well with others.
