Assistant Men's and Women's Golf Coach

Responsibilities In conjunction with the Head Coach, plans and executes a successful program that would include duties such as: conducting regular team and individual practice sessions; coaching the student athletes, evaluating athletes' performance in practice and competition; monitoring the conditioning and training of student athletes, advising and counseling student athletes regarding their obligations to comply with all rules and regulations related to financial aid and eligibility, as well as personal conduct and academics 55% Arranges and conducts recruiting functions including off‑ and on‑campus visits, evaluations and contacts of prospective student‑athletes 25% Ensures that necessary athletic equipment and gear is available and in proper condition for scheduled practices and competition and makes recommendation for repairs or replacement, as necessary. Works with the department’s liaison to apparel company to order appropriate gear/uniforms 10% Performs administrative tasks such as scheduling, travel arrangements, budget preparation and monitoring, and maintaining statistics. Attends coaches’ preparatory meetings and implements strategies resulting from these meetings 10% Supplemental Functions Full travel responsibilities for in‑and‑out of sport season 95% Assist with game management including setup, game management and breakdown as needed 5% Qualifications Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s Preferred Prior coaching experience at the college or club sports level or as a collegiate athlete Certification and Licensure First Aid, CPR, AED Required (or willingness to obtain) Coaching Licenses/courses recommended Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to act with honesty and sportsmanship at all times so that intercollegiate athletics as a whole, the university and they as individuals, represent the honor and dignity of fair play and the generally recognized high standards associated with wholesome competitive sports Solid knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment and retention of student‑athletes Ability to handle highly confidential material and maintain strict confidence Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures and have knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the swimming and diving program Ability to successfully recruit and retain student athletes Skilled in exemplary customer service, including dealing effectively with the students, faculty, staff, and general public both in person and over the telephone Ability to maintain professionalism when dealing with all staff and other customers and possess the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community Demonstrated knowledge, understanding, and sensitivity to the needs of all prospective as well as current students Excellent writing skills and the demonstrated ability to develop written reports and action plans.
