Golf Maintenance - Seasonal

About the position Performs maintenance duties within the Rob Roy Golf course and Park District. Responsibilities • Mow greens, tees, fairways, and roughs by use of reel-type and rotary mowers • Cut grass using a push, or rider lawn mower or power trimmer • Change putting green cups on greens • Hand shovel dirt or gravel • Assist in aerating and top dressing greens • Operation of irrigation pumps • Manual watering • Application of fertilizer • Load and unload materials and equipment • Trim trees, pick up brush, and load brush • Plant and care of trees and shrubbery, and flower beds • Painting • Washing vehicles • Emptying garbage cans • Blowing off paths and parking lots • Snow Removal • Perform light maintenance and construction duties • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds • Must arrive at work on time • On call nights and weekends as needed Requirements • Valid Illinois Driver’s License • Must have the ability to operate equipment and tools safely and proficiently • Must possess ability to work in team efficiently. • Must possess customer service skills • Must be able to pass a criminal background check, pre-employment physical and drug test. • Knowledge of a variety of maintenance and manual tasks involved in the general upkeep, repairs, cleanliness, and overall aesthetics of buildings, grounds and playground equipment. Nice-to-haves • Minimum 2 years’ experience in golf course maintenance • Certification in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) within 3 months of employment • Be in good physical condition and must have the ability to handle strenuous and varied physical activity in all weather, including but not limited to, extensive lifting, standing, walking and climbing.
