Job Purpose
The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the appearance, playability, and overall condition of the golf course and surrounding property. This role supports daily course operations through routine turf care, landscaping, equipment operation, and attention to detail that ensures a safe, attractive, and high-quality playing environment for guests and members.
Responsibilities
Perform daily maintenance activities including mowing greens, tees, fairways, and roughAssist with irrigation system operation, inspection, and basic repairsRake bunkers, edge cart paths, trim landscaping, and maintain clubhouse groundsSupport seeding, fertilizing, aeration, topdressing, and turf renovation projectsRemove debris and ensure course cleanliness and safetyOperate and maintain hand tools, small equipment, and riding machinery safelyFollow established maintenance schedules and safety proceduresReport course conditions, equipment issues, or hazards to supervisorsAssist with storm cleanup, special projects, and seasonal course preparationUphold environmental stewardship practices and water conservation standardsDeliver friendly, professional interactions with guests when encountered on course
Qualifications
Previous golf course or landscape maintenance experience preferred but not requiredAbility to work outdoors in varying weather conditionsPhysical capability to perform manual labor including lifting, bending, walking, and standing for extended periodsWillingness to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as neededBasic understanding of turf care practices or eagerness to learnAbility to follow instructions and work both independently and as part of a teamValid driver’s license may be required depending on location
Working Conditions
Outdoor environment with exposure to heat, cold, rain, and sunPhysical demands including lifting up to 50 pounds, prolonged standing/walking, and repetitive motionsEarly morning shifts common to support course operationsOperation of mechanical equipment and toolsSchedule may include weekends and holidays
