About the Role
Our client, an exclusive golf resort renowned for its pristine courses and exceptional guest experience, is seeking a highly accomplished and charismatic Head Golf Professional for their stunning property in **Grand Rapids, Michigan, US**. This is a fully remote position that offers the ultimate opportunity to lead all golf operations, from player development and instruction to retail management and event coordination. The ideal candidate will possess a deep passion for the game of golf, an impeccable service orientation, and proven leadership skills in a high-end golf environment. You will be responsible for ensuring that every golfer enjoys a superior experience, fostering a welcoming atmosphere, and driving the success of the golf division.
Key responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of the golf shop operations, including inventory management, merchandising, and point-of-sale systems. You will manage the club's professional staff, providing training, mentorship, and performance feedback to ensure the highest levels of customer service. Developing and implementing comprehensive golf programs, clinics, leagues, and tournaments for members and guests will be a core function. Providing high-quality golf instruction and player development programs tailored to golfers of all skill levels is essential. You will serve as the primary point of contact for members and guests regarding all golf-related inquiries and needs, ensuring their satisfaction. This role involves collaborating closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and Food & Beverage Manager to ensure seamless integration of all resort operations. Driving revenue growth through strategic initiatives in instruction, retail, and events is a key performance indicator. Maintaining relationships with golf equipment manufacturers and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and product availability is also important. You will uphold the club's standards of excellence in every aspect of your work.
Qualifications include PGA or LPGA certification is mandatory. A minimum of 7 years of experience in golf professional roles, with at least 3 years in a Head Professional or Assistant Head Professional capacity at a reputable club or resort, is required. Proven experience in golf instruction, retail management, and tournament operations is essential. Exceptional customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills are necessary. Strong leadership and staff management abilities are crucial. Proficiency with golf management software (e.g., Jonas, Clubessential, ForeTees) and POS systems is required. A deep understanding of golf rules and etiquette is a given. The ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, is necessary.
