Essential FunctionsDaily course inspectionCommunicate course conditions with superintendent, golf staff, and guests as appropriatePosition will be hands on; a working managerWeekly scheduling of crew and assigning daily tasksInterview and hiring of seasonal associatesTraining of associates on equipment, procedures, and safety topicsAssist with scheduling and implementing chemical and fertilizer programsIrrigation program setup, scheduling, and repairAssist with course improvement projectsCommunicate with mechanics for equipment issues/needsPurchasing of materials and supplies for the golf course maintenance operationResponsible for the daily maintenance of entire course in superintendent's absenceCampus snow removalStrong desire to continue a career in golf course maintenance.Turf management educationTurf maintenance / or related experience requiredKnowledge of the game of golfBasic computer skills(Word, Excel)Ability to obtain Wisconsin pesticide certification within first year of employmentManagement or supervisory experience of a crew of more than (10)Must possess good organizational/time management skillsAble to develop camaraderie with team membersAct ethically and honestly in all business practicesDesire to build effective relationships with department heads, managers, supervisors, and industry vendors.Attend manager functions and team-building events
