Position Description:
Binghamton Country Club is seeking an energetic, highly visible, and progressive Head Golf Professional to lead its entire golf operation into a new era. Replacing a highly respected, 30-year tenured professional, the successful candidate will excel at balancing the club's rich history and traditions with a modern, tech-forward, and inclusive approach to the member experience. The Head Golf Professional will be a personable and engaging leader responsible for the comprehensive management, strategic execution, and continuous improvement of all golf operations, instruction, and merchandising. This is a year-round position.
Essential Job Functions
Member Engagement, Visibility & Communication
Act as the primary ambassador of the golf program, maintaining an exceptionally high level of hospitality, approachability, and visibility across all member demographics.
Proactively cultivate a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere, ensuring both multi-generational and newer members are successfully integrated into the club's golf culture.
Modernize and streamline all communication channels regarding tournaments, tee times, league scoring, and daily course updates.
Technology & Operations Modernization
Master and fully integrate modern golf management software, with a specific focus on maximizing Golf Genius capabilities for live scoring, digital event management, and tournament communication.
Oversee and optimize the year-round utilization of the club's simulator facilities, developing innovative winter leagues, practice opportunities, and indoor instruction programs.
Supervise daily operations including the player flow/pace of play, practice facility presentation, and the maintenance/rental of the golf car fleet.
Instruction & Player Development
Lead and expand a structured, passionate teaching program catering to golfers of all skill levels.
Design and implement innovative player development initiatives, placing an immediate priority on growing women's golf participation, junior golf programs, clinics, and beginner-focused schools.
Introduce and utilize cutting-edge teaching technologies (launch monitors, video analysis) to enhance the training and club-fitting experience.
Tournament & Social Event Management
Execute a dynamic, highly organized calendar of competitive and social tournaments that respects the club's historic traditions while introducing fresh, creative event concepts.
Expand family-oriented and social golf activities, introducing creative programming such as glow golf, parent-child events, and couples leagues.
Golf Shop Operations & Merchandising (Professional-Owned)
Own and operate a full-service, premier Pro Shop operation, curating a high-quality merchandise selection that aligns with current trends and member preferences.
Maintain elite standards of product presentation, customer service, and custom club-fitting services.
Leadership, Team Management & Administration
Recruit, train, mentor, and inspire a professional, service-driven golf operations team (including Assistant Professionals and outside service personnel).
Establish a clear culture of accountability and continuous improvement within the staff.
Manage departmental payroll, administrative duties, and coordinate winter league/simulator staffing responsibilities with the Assistant Professional.
Maintain an active, highly collaborative partnership with the Golf Course Superintendent and other executive team leaders.
Experience And Qualifications
Including, but not limited to, the following:
Class A PGA Member in good standing with a minimum of 5 years of private country club experience. Prior Head Professional experience or significant tenure as a Senior Assistant at a respected operation is preferred.
Compensation And Benefits
The club will provide a compensation and benefits package commensurate with experience and qualifications. This includes, but is not limited to:
Base Salary:
$100,000-$110,000
Estimated Total Compensation:
$160,000-$170,000 (inclusive of base, lessons/clinics, annual bonus and golf shop revenue)
