About the Role
Baltusrol Golf Club is seeking a motivated and passionate Turf Equipment Technician to join our Grounds Department. This is an outstanding opportunity for a mechanically inclined individual who wants to build a long-term career in the golf course industry. Working directly alongside our Equipment Manager, who brings more than 35 years of industry experience, you will receive hands-on training and mentorship while maintaining and repairing championship-level golf course equipment. This position is designed for someone eager to develop into a highly skilled golf course technician, with a clear path toward advancing into an Equipment Manager role. In the coming years, Baltusrol will host some of golf's most prestigious championships, including the 2029 PGA Championship, the 2033 U.S. Mid-Amateur Championship, the 2039 U.S. Amateur Championship, and the 2046 U.S. Open. This position offers a unique opportunity to play a key role in preparing and maintaining equipment that supports championship-caliber playing conditions on one of the game's most storied stages.
Essential Functions/Qualifications:
- Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on golf course equipment.
- Diagnose and repair diesel, gasoline, and electric-powered engines.
- Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, and hydrostatic systems.
- Service equipment, including fluid changes, adjustments, and repairs.
- Sharpen, set up, and adjust reel and rotary mowers.
- Perform welding and light fabrication as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop.
- Must have a high level of mechanical aptitude
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of mechanical experience.
- Experience with diesel, gasoline, and electric-powered equipment.
- Ability to diagnose and repair electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
- Welding and fabrication experience preferred.
- Golf course equipment experience is a plus.
Physical and Environment Demands:
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Safely operate golf course maintenance equipment and company vehicles.
- Exposure to fuels, oils, hydraulic fluids, solvents, and maintenance products.
- Use PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and safety-toe footwear.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures.
